I am very new to Astral Projection.

I have actually only done it once but I got scared off right away.

Whenever I try to astral project, I get as far as the heavy tingly feelings throughout my body.

But thats the farthest I ever get if anything.

Please, I dont know what to do from here. Everytime I try to will myself out of my physical body, I fail.

Ok, first thing's first:

Just relax.

That's all you need. You're already making good progress with the tingly feelings and the 1 OBE. Just practise the techniques often and you'll build up your skill in no time.

What you shouldn't be doing is willing yourself out of your body. Just relax. When you're ready, it will come naturally.

Hi Daylee,

For starters, welcome to Gnosticweb!

It's great that you've made it out once already. I think most of us have issues with fear in our early experiences. I was a little scared in my first experience and that's what ended it.

The heavy, tingly feelings are a good sign as they show the process of falling sleep is well underway. As just a general note, though, you don't always have to experience those feelings to be close. Sometimes we don't really notice anything, so you might be close other times, too.

With astral projection we are essentially allowing ourselves to fall asleep consciously. So that once the physical body is asleep and the astral body separates, we aren't lost in thought (this would take us into a dream instead of a conscious OBE).

So an important part of projecting is staying relaxed, because you otherwise can't fall asleep. And moreover, it is often best to be concentrated on something else (the beating of our own heart, say), because if we start to think about what astral sensations we are experiencing then various emotions (excitement, fear) or tendencies to force ourselves out of our body (thereby breaking the relaxation) arise and these often spoil our practice.

If we just keep relaxed and concentrated then sleep can happen very naturally and we will find ourselves out-of-body, either by floating up above our body or by getting up as we would physically but being in the astral.

Another thing I'd recommend is the Dreams and OBE's course offered here. It's free and it (along with the other courses) yielded great results for me.

All the best!

Mike

Hi Daylee,

The sensations you are getting are telling you you are very close : ) so really all you need to do is wait and keep concentrating on the astral technique. Astral Projection is really a natural thing, so if we start forcing things, or want them to go a certain way it does not work as well.

The thing that seems to keep a lot of people stuck is that upon getting those sensations, we start thinking about them, or about what is going to happen next. Getting excited, worried etc… When in fact our concentration on ‘the astral technique’ is the key to get ourselves out : )

With astral projection, you need to concentrate on one thing in order to come out of your body (so any distraction takes you away from the exercise of trying to project).

You will also see there is nothing to be scared about, the more experience you have, the more you will get used to how astral projection works, how it feels to come out of body and exist in that plane.

If you haven’t done so already, I would recommend signing up for the Dreams and Out-of-Body Experiences course, as it goes step-by step in learning the basics of how to astral project and how to overcome the obstacles along the way.

All the best with it!

Olga

I have the same problem. Everyone here helps out a great deal because I'm pretty sure that they've all experienced these and similar obstacles when trying to project the first few times.  I'm working on relaxing and focusing on my heartbeat even though it becomes increasingly harder for me to hear my heart over the vibrations.  I found if you have the problem with the vibrations draining out the sound of your heart, to concentrate on your breathing.

I've only gotten out like twice and the first time I freaked out too badly to do anything and the second time, I got too exited.  But the second time I focused on breathing because I couldn't hear my heartbeat... just a suggestion incase your vibrations are as intense as mine are.
