Hi Jahfonde,

I know how difficult it is to stop and to be honest, there is no easy way. It comes down to willpower, ultimately. No matter how much we feel tempted and now matter how psychologically painful it might be, we absolutely must not give in to it.

In addition to basic willpower, there are other things that we can do.

For one, we should get rid of anything that could tempt us (anything pornographic, etc.) Not just putting the material somewhere else but actually throwing it out.

We need to fundamentally understand that we, our true essence, are not the lust. The lust is something separate from us; it can attack us in our thoughts, emotions, the actions we do, but it really is something outside of us. With the tools for self-observation, as taught in the Self-Discovery course, we can begin to see all of our egos (the elements of our subconscious, not just lust) with detachment and this helps us to build more willpower.

It's worth looking into what the consequences really are for giving into masturbation. If you see how much it can imprison us, keeping us trapped within its claws, it's really frightening. Then seeing how it harms us in concentration, how it just gets stronger, how it makes finding spiritual states like peace next to impossible, we again can build willpower.

Following the last paragraph, how about trying to experience some of the innate beauty of the consciousness? Go for a walk and simply try to be aware and clear - be aware of the world through your five senses and let go of thoughts, emotions, etc. that obscure that clarity. Being aware is something profoundly spiritual and the peace and happiness contained within it cannot really be put into words. You could also try some concentration practices, reading some spiritual texts (like the Gnostic Gospels, etc.) and try to get a feel for the incredible insights there, chanting a mantra, etc. These are all things that your consciousness innately can do, and these experiences are more wonderful than any pleasure derived from lust.

So you could even try doing a spiritual practice, if you feel tempted. Replace something inferior with something superior.

I think someone already mentioned this on a thread earlier, but avoiding pork products is also really helpful in fighting lust.

It is a difficult battle but not impossible. You can overcome it, if your willpower is strong enough.

All the strength!

Mike

Hello Jahfonde,

I too had problem with lust since very early childhood. I never gave it much thought at the time sexuality by modern science is after all natural thing. But after reading Samael Aun Weor's books like "Yes, there is a Hell; Yes, there is Devil; Yes, there is Karma" (found here: http://www.gnosticweb.com/files/pdf/EN_Hell_Devil_And_Karma.pdf) and the "The Perfect Matrimony" (search the web for pdf book) I come to conclude after some reflection on my life that some of the physical and mental degeneration I have experienced was more then aging. It will be also impossible to practice Alchemy when lust is this uncontrollably strong in you.

I have since through reflection and awareness came clean with my attraction to lust and stopped seeking it out. I have slowly but steadily diminished the sexual images in my mind. This have helped some. I have prayed to my divine Mother and divine Father to disintegrate these thoughts and images, that have helped greatly, and I still continue doing so with awareness. You must learn to identify the emotions, the feelings, the thoughts and images that fallow in war like vigilance and full of awareness. Use payer and visualization of lighted circle of protection so it destroys and neutralize these images and thoughts into pure white light, see the lustful image, in your mind, being overtaken by this light, see it being purified. This is very powerful method for me to overcome all kinds of thoughts.

If you have taken Gnostic Wisdom course you were given techniques how you can overcome lust for a single person with HAM-SAM practice (HAM - breath slowly through your nose while imagining light rising towards the top of your head, then breath out fast with mouth saying SAH, you can visualize the light going from your head to the heart.) This helps greatly too. Also stay away from pork and all foods that have even little of pork in it. I have learned this first hand when I was in Germany on training for my job. They consume 95% of pork here, it is everywhere and in almost everything. I have seen increase in lust in me and yes it took about 2 weeks after the trip for it diminish again.

You must become strong vigilance and awareness, you must become strong willed worrier with your sword of light ready to strike at the darkness. Much strength my friend on the path of Great Work. God speed.

Wishing you all a great spiritual morning.

Hi jahfonde,
like many people you have become an addict to this. But you can learn to overcome it.

When this impulse comes ask your Divine Mother to disintegrate it.Ask Her to help you get over it.Believe in Her and She will help you.

Analyze it and try to see what triggers it.For example avoid fantasizing or watching porno.Don't stay in bed when you wake up because you are full of energy and the egos will try and take advantage of this.

Practise awareness through the day and do all the practices. They help you to be more spiritually oriented and this helps a lot.

Don't be afraid of it and don't let it disappoint you when you do it because you feed it.

Don't expect that it will just stop coming. This will bring you disappointment.Temptation will be there for a long time. You have to understand it and learn how to fight it because it will keep on attacking to feed.
In our spiritual development what changes is the way we confront temptation, the way we stop giving in to it.

"Temptation is fire. Triumph over temptation is light."

"The results speak for themselves. If there are no temptations there are no virtues. Virtues are more grandiose when temptations are stronger. What is important is not to fall into temptation. That is why we have to pray to our Father, saying, “Lead us not into temptation.” Only through the struggle, the contrast, the temptation, and rigorous esoteric discipline, can the flowers of virtue sprout from us." Samael Aun Weor

I hope I helped you a little.

All the best

Oh yeah. Another really big thing that Currently and Chris hit on is prayer.

We can never pray too much! Pray for strength. Pray for understanding. Pray to be protected from temptation. And don't stop praying :-)

Prayer is essential in every step of our spiritual progress.

Again, wishing you all the strength!

Hi janfonde,

I find this quote helpful in hard times:

"When you fall you hurt yourself, you slip and fall, would you stay sitting down or you would get up and walk? You would get up and walk, wouldn't you? Well, within the teaching it is the same. Did you fall? Then get up and set off with even more eagerness to recover what you have lost, otherwise, you will remain fallen. You must get up and set off." VM Rabolu

best wishes!

Something I wanted to emphasize and add to is what Currently said here. He said:

"Also stay away from pork and all foods that have even little of pork in it. I have learned this first hand when I was in Germany on training for my job. They consume 95% of pork here, it is everywhere and in almost everything. I have seen increase in lust in me and yes it took about 2 weeks after the trip for it diminish again."

Pork pollutes the sexual energies immensely, and all dirty energies want to do is be dirtier and nastier. I have also discovered first-hand that any small amount even in additives causes lust to surge. Also when I was training for a company and the other people in my group went out for lunch to a BBQ Pork place, and I stayed behind to eat vegetables, they came back and the rest of the day all they could do was crack dirty sexual jokes and talk about women, really disgusting. This has happened on more than one occasion, with a coworker eating pork and being out of control the rest of the day.

Anyways, hope you can learn the easy way by taking the advice, rather than the hard way.

To avoid any kind of pork additives in this day, you will have to become familiar with ingredients that can be derived from pork, like gelatin, food colorings, soy lecithin can even have pork fat as a carrier. I use this website to check for questionable ingredients, it tells you why something is, isn't, or could not be halal, now I've pretty much memorized all that are possibly derived from pork. If you're in Europe you'll have to learn the 'E' numbers.

The other way is to buy things with a kosher symbol on it. Here is a website that has a list of kosher symbols. Kosher means it abides by certain Jewish laws, one of them being a very strict rejection of pork, so anything with a kosher symbol is completely pork free.

A change to completely eliminate pork or pork additives will help immensely. Anyone who has done it will agree. After going completely pork-free (and masturbation free) for a while, if you happen to have some, even just a small amount, you will definitely know the effects.

Slowly but surely, by getting rid of pork and avoiding masturbation at all costs, and praying for help, you will start cleaning the energies, and the cleaner they get, the more we can experience inner peace, so much better than that grasping mess of the egos.

Best wishes,

Hi Jahfonde,

Fight it, it's not worth it. There is so much more you can have, if you fight it.

Pleasure brings pain. Get out of this wheel.

Will power is a sword.

See passed the deciets of the egos, they are full of lies. Go for walks, pray, find peace with the divine.

My best advice, is hit the details. Look for them, search for them, those tiny manifestations that come up. Small thoughts, small reactions all this don't let them feed. If you have the technique hit them all down. Be clear, go to war.

Peace and Strength,

Ruben

Knowledge is important - keep learning where energy comes from, how to keep the centers balanced, where the egos come from, how they take the energy. Learn about the egos. The more knowledge you have of how they work, the more tools you have.

Pavlin's quote from Rabolu is really important. At first, you will have little success, and you'll just have to keep going. Don't forget to forgive yourself and try to see your progress more than your lack.
If you go cold-turkey, you can expect a week or two before the urge will become irresistable. Then you can expand out to 3 months without too much difficulty, and finally indefinately. We're so used to feeding lust (for me it's mainly an emotional thing, like "oh, I think I'm in love with so and so.... and this other one, and this person over here.") that wet dreams will be quite common at first too. Also, I find that I tend to get the urge to masterbate more often in stressful situations, so it's worthwhile looking into other forms of managing stress (i.e-meditation).
