Had one last year and I believed they were real, until you have one it is a belief and after you have one it is really life changing, positive, reassuring and simply mind blowing! I was on the last evening of a week long vacation with family and friends. I went down a water slide that was not well constructed and was very bumpie as they used 55 gallon drums welded together to make the slide and when I hit the pool at the end I was floating in a prone position about 2 feet under the surface of the water. My entire body was parallel to the surface (next time you go into a pool try to duplicate that without moving- you can't. Your feet tend to drop down and your head floats up to the surface. I was perfectly flat, my entire body equally below the surface and I could look up and see my friends and family looking down at me.) What seemed like a short time, the life guard jumped into the pool, and as soon as he touched me, I "snapped out"of it and got to my feet and out of the pool, it was only about 4 feet deep. Shortly afterwards, I had a lot of pain in my back just below my shoulder blades which went on to hurt on and off for about the next 5 months. A few weeks later, I had a very rapid heart rate and was diagnosed with an arrethmea and spent about 11 days in a cardiac hospital (3 different stays of 6 days 4 days and 1 day) to find the correct medication to lower my heart rate and minimize the arrethmea (which is where part of your heart does not beat, it sort of vibrates). If you ever saw a movie where someone's heart stops and they use paddles to restart it, that is a big arrethmea, I have a little one that affects a small part of my heart. I think that when I hit the water after going down the slide, my heart stopped. When the life guard touched me, he startled me which in turn started my heart beating again and the pain in my back was from my heart, not the bumps on the slide. It took me a few months to realize what had happened. When I was floating below the surface it was very serene, comfortable, with no anxiety at all until the life guard grabbed me, then it was the opposite and in hindsight I am mad that he did come in and get me on one hand but thankful that he did as I am not ready to go to the other side yet but I learned that there is another side and I have no fear of death anymore, only a fear of not accomplishing my reason for living this life.

Hi Parnelli,
Yeah, I can totally relate - OBEs are truly life changing. To see first hand how much more there is to life than what we see in our day-to-day lives is indeed mind-blowing.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's a really interesting one; and I'm very glad you are still alive and are able to benefit from your experience out of the body.
I wish you all the best in accomplishing your reason for living!
Mike
