Do most Gnostics think there is a mother and father God? I think there very well could be. This verse from the bible makes me wonder even more: genesis 1:26 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground." If there were only one God then why did he say "Let us make man..." and "In our image". Sylvia Browne claims that we and the good things of this world are mirror images of God and the afterlife and that there is a Father and Mother God just like we have fathers and mothers here in this world. I think it is so, what are everyone else's opinions? |

Hi Christy,
I'm not an expert at interpreting the Bible by any means. I think that's a nice interpretation you have.
There are higher aspects of our own Being - our own personal God. And two such aspects are the Divine Mother and Divine Father.
They serve the role of a physical mother and father but in a spiritual sense. They watch over us in life, teach us and help us when we try to advance spiritually.
Through prayer, gaining self-knowledge and having astral experiences we can get more in touch with them and verify their existence.
Kind regards,
Mike

My education of that speciffic matter of the plurality of a creator(s) is referring to the Elohim and of the ten Sephirot . The Masculine aspect that does not reach us down this far in emmanation would be YHWH.
When the ancient texts were translated into English, the concept for Elohim was replaced by the word "God" further adding to alot of confusion.
It's all words to me anyway, which are too easily confused in contexts. What good are they if we don't understand our own experience?
