First off, Ive learned about hundreds of meditation techniques and have had a few postive effects happen such as increased awareness and I can remember my dreams more, this was about a couple of years ago(i'll be 21 soon) when my interest was first sparked in the entire subject due to a paper i was writing for my friend on the devachan plane and from my nonwestern humanities class. All was well until my life started getting chaotic and unfortunately i began to neglect my practices. My spirit has been feelling restless and unruly all the time, probably from stress. So i tried meditating again and ive been feeling really DESPERATE to find my spiritual path and to maybe have some kind of awakening, or even just to ease a lil stress, but when i try meditating i'll try to quiet my mind, but then my body would jerk and then i'd feel a burst of upset, frustrated, almost to tears and just feel this hopeless feeling, then i'd quit and feel pitiful. I almost feel like im under attack. It hurts, it sucks, and im left feeling confused. I really dont know what to do or who to talk to, but its constantly upsetting... |

I know that feeling of spiritual restlessness. Maybe the courses here will help. They're extremely practical, and set at a pace that in my experience have brought very real and profound and lasting results, also it's just great to be part of a group practicing for the same things.
The next round start up soon, March 9th. If you want you can sign up for the free online courses here.
Best wishes,

Something that I've found helps me in those situations is allowing myself to feel whatever I'm feeling. Go into the feeling; imagine that you will live that way the rest of your life, could that be OK? Can you identify the feeling in a physical location on your person? Watch the various centers and see if you can really see what you're experiencing, without adding judgements or mental noise.

Hi Ashlee,
Like Jim said, the courses here can possibly help.
For example, Self-Discovery course teaches what is precise mechanics of negative feelings and what are possible ways to deal with it.
Have you tried to pray?
After all the "progress" of science and weakening of religion's role in the modern world, many seem to become quite sceptical whether there is any practical use of a prayer, not even giving a good honest try if it can work for them.
But personally, I know that prayer can really help in these situations.
If you are interested to learn about it, here is Jasmin's blog about prayer, Prayer in the Work.
Best wishes!

You can try to find out what causes these frustrations and emotions.
I found that when I understand a problem in me, by that time it is getting less already.
The self knowledge course is teaching how to do this exactly.
all the best,

Hi Ashlee,
When I started the courses here I experienced a similar thing.
I was really interested in out of body experiences, so I did that course, but everytime I sat down to read the course information I all of a sudden would get really restless, almost painful sensations in my body, I had trouble concentrating, all these things came up.
I think maybe it's because if we want to wake up and start meditating or start on the spiritual path, that means getting rid of lower states like negativity etc. These states don't want to go so they throw things like what you've experienced up to try and stop us from meditating or from searching for a way to change and grow.
Like everyone else, I think the Self Discovery course would really help you because it teaches you how to learn about and overcome the states you've been experiencing so you don't have to suffer through them anymore, and you can get a lot more states like peace and happiness in your life, as well as a lot of understanding and knowledge.
There are always people to talk to here if you need or want too, because a lot of us have experienced similar things!
Hope you can sort things out,
David
