Meditating in Richmond Park, London

Last week I posted about a situation in London that was very grim. But this week I wanted to update on a side of London that is much nicer.

Most people are surprised when they hear that 1/3 of London is parkland. I think this it is not appreciated as much as it should be because it is somewhere where you can find a lot of beauty. The parks are very well looked after with amazing landscaped gardens. They are protected from being taken over by the expanding city, and animals such as deer and native squirrels roam freely and undisturbed. Last weekend we visited one of those parklands - Richmond Park, which is the largest of the royal parks in London, made up of over 2500 acres of hills, woodlands, gardens, lakes and grasslands set among ancient trees.

A group of us from the London centre spent the whole day in the park investigating techniques of meditation. We practised mindfulness meditation (awareness) as we walked over 10km through woods, along forest paths and across grasslands full of herds of roaming deer. We made some stops along the way where we sat out in the sun meditating on the breath and then later practising visual meditation under a tree of singing birds. It was a fantastic and uplifting day and we will be continuing these practice days in nature on a regular basis as the beginning of spring is finally on its way!

Hey Jo!, On morning of 25th

Hey Jo!,

On morning of 25th Feb, here in India, I dreamt of these deers, and they were in a park or a garden! They were attacking some poor creature(perhaps a dog?). Did you or anyone of the group witness any fight of these animals? Just curious.

Sorry, I clicked post

Sorry, I clicked post comment twice!

Beautiful park Jo, you seem

Beautiful park Jo, you seem very lucky to have all that natural land not too far.

Its been awfully cold here lately and I am looking forward to the Toronto group walks again!

I think I will be putting my vote in for some good deer terrain this time round ;-)

Hi Manpreet, That's

Hi Manpreet,

That's interesting! It sounds like you were joining our walk in the astral :-)

We only saw two deer fighting eachother - the males clash their antlers together and wrestle when they are trying to win over a female deer. I don't think they really attack anything else, they are quite friendly.

That is really interesting

That is really interesting Jo. I actually saw them clash their antlers and it seemed like they were crushing some creature, egos do exaggerate a bit the real events, or maybe it was some symbol.

Jo and Manpreet,

Dogs can relate to sexual energies, right? Possibly that's an explanation, the astral vision of that energy Jo says why they clash their antlers together. Just an idea, of course your own intuition tell you the truth :)

It looks like a beautiful

It looks like a beautiful place Jo. Not the visual I had in my head of London at all!

Thanks for putting up the pictures and writeup.

I had a dream with these

I had a dream with these deers yesterday, I guess they impressed me, it was quite vivid.
Is there a big lake or the ocean nearby, with a dark pebble shore? After seeing the deers I ran to the shore.
