I wonder what the purpose is that we can't remember our past lives in this life. It makes sense that we don't because we are born into a brand new body with a brand new unused brain. It takes a lot of work to be able to "download" (as Robert Bruce puts it) memories from our "spirit" (I don't even know what term to use here, lol).

I would assume (that means I have no clue) that when we are finally out of our bodies, all of our existence is just there. Probably memory is not even the right term.

Hmmm, very thought provoking.

Hi Jahfonde,

While majority of humanity seems not to remember it, yes, there are accounts of people able to remember their previous lives.
One of them, who wrote about it, is Samael Aun Weor.

According to my understanding, and the courses teach about it, the remembrance starts with remembrance of ourselves in the present moment and learning to look back in the memory consciously with the practice of retrospection.
There is also mantra which can help with remembrance of past lives (vowel "A") done together with the retrospection backwards (from the present moment to the birth) of the whole life and attempt to go further...

Then, with advanced internal work, when a certain amount of subconscious elements (commonly known as fear, pride, anger) is eliminated and the specific chakras are permanently activated in the superior bodies (created from saved energy), a person gains the faculty to remember the past lives.

Personally, I had some interesting "deja-vu" experiences, but I am far from honestly saying that "I am able to remember something from my past lives".

I would really like to find the answers on your questions, thanks for asking them.

Best wishes,

Vadim

That's interesting, thanks for sharing!
I had a similar experiences too, feeling that I have met a specific person before, or have been in a certain place, or there is some significance in something which I can't remember, etc.

I had another type of experience also, recently, which also can relate to remembrance.

There was a specific situation in my life, and I didn't know what is the best choice to make. I lacked the skills and qualities to see it clearly.
However, after doing some practices and spiritual activities I had a sudden insight about repetitive pattern of that situation.

I could feel and see images about it happening with me before, how it happens now and will happen again in the future, unless I'll deal with it radically now, and change the way I act by eliminating the egos causing me to react.

Yes, me too, I wish to learn more about it and know for sure what deja vu really is.

From my investigations it seems to me deja vu is an occurrence where one comes across a situation that has previously been seen in a dream, however that initial dream was not remembered.
We can individually investigate this for ourselves. Upon experiencing deja vu try to recall more of that feeling of familiarity (dream memory) and try and see if you can get any more info past the point on which the occurrence is taking place.
With a little practice you can gain insight into, or even see the future a little ahead of when the deja vu has occurred. This merely being an instant recall of more information from the past dream.
Happy investigations,
Adam

ive realised for quite some time, that every year there seems to be a pattern, certain things seem to happen at almost the same time the year before, does this meen im doing something wrong?

Yes, for me too, it's very intereting stuff.
As I understand it, things keep repeating them in the same pattern because of the cyclicity of processes which we are part of (four seasons, 12 signs of zodiac, etc.)

However, with internal change, comes an opportunity to get gradually more freedom from these cycles.
An analogy can be, a poor person with a weak health can easily get sick from a cold weather every time it happens during a year, however if that person would become strong and healthy, these periods of cold weather won't have any effect.

It is said that objectively the right thing for us to do is to change internally because that's why we are here for. Also there many subjective views about what is "right" and "wrong". What is right for one person, can be wrong for another and vice versa.
So, it depends how to look at it.

Personally, with negative egos, as well as with positive (they are part of the same cycle) I can only recommend and encourage to keep changing internally to avoid the repeititve pattern, working with self-observation, retrospection, dreams analysis, elimination of egos and other tools.

All the best wishes!

Hey Dusty,

The way it's talked about in the courses is that if we were able to remember our past lives when we were born, then it would inhibit our growth in our current life and how our personality is formed.

So when we're born we don't remember. I think it would be great to be able to find out now though what we did or what happened in previous lives that led to our current circumstances.

I'd like to know what happened and the things I've been through that have brought me now to the point where I'm at!

All the best,
David

Hi David,
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense about why we wouldn't remember. It would be very interesting to know, like you said, at this point. I wonder if I would be shocked at myself. lol

Thanks David,
Dusty
