Steeve
Steeve’s Biography
It all started with a simple piece of paper, tacked to a wall, easily missed among dozens of others. The poster was on a campus bulletin board, and it described a course on how to have out-of-body experiences and explore the Astral dimension. After reading it, Steeve realized that it was exactly what he’d been trying to find.
His childhood interests in mystical and historical literature had evolved into a search for truth as he matured. Steeve wanted to experience those same heroic quests for freedom and higher states of being that were described in the pages of well-worn books. He spent years exploring spiritual groups and joined the Theosophical Society after moving to Australia, where he attended the University of New South Wales. Exploring spiritual groups was actually a reflection of the personal, internal search he was carrying out; the spiritual part of him wanted to grow.
But in all his searching, he still didn’t find the guidance he needed to gain his own knowledge about the greater mysteries of reality. Keeping an open mind, he attended the Astral Travel course at the Sydney Gnostic Center. This changed the rest of his life.
Excited by the results of the course, he enrolled in others, learning practices that helped him to step out of theories and to directly experience spiritual states of being. He also met his future wife, Bianca, and the couple married in 2000.
But Steeve knew that gaining his own experiences wouldn’t be enough. Knowing that there were others searching - as he had searched before finding that flyer - Steeve felt a personal responsibility to teach others about gnosis and to help them to gain experiences of their own. Leaving the comforts of their life in Sydney, the couple moved to Melbourne and then to Montreal, Canada to introduce Gnosis to new audiences.
Steeve had lived in France, Europe, Africa, Australia, and New Caledonia, but the shift to Montreal brought new obstacles. They started teaching courses at community halls, while also devoting themselves to establishing a permanent Gnostic Center in Montreal. Soon, they managed to find a commercial space in an excellent location, and after months of labouring and renovating – and with the help of others - the Montreal Gnostic Center opened in 2005.
Today, Steeve meets the needs of the local community by offering courses in both French and English. As a Teacher, he is known for demonstrating a sense of responsibility to students and to the spiritual work. While he tends to lighten the mood with a few well-placed jokes, Steeve realizes the possibilities of Gnosis and therefore takes his role as a Teacher seriously. Students know they can rely on him, and they trust that he is there to help. He also makes time to contribute to the success of the website, helping with maintenance and advertising activities.
As a child, Steeve was captivated by stories of mystical adventures. As an adult, he aims to experience the path to spirituality, and he helps others to do the same.
Some words from Steeve
A few years ago while walking through NSW, Australia University; I saw a poster advertising a free Astral Travel Course. Although I was drawn to astral travel initially, when I attended the course I found there was so much more to it than that. Like techniques taught on how to work on one's inner psychology. That’s when I knew that these teachings are for me.
Providing the Gnostic Movement teachings is a great experience. I appreciate the opportunity to live out and teach the esoteric knowledge that was taught in ancient times that has now been simplified to meet modern society's needs. – Steeve
