new to astral projection

I once heard it claimed that the term Astral Projection was founded around the end of 1800th and/or beginning of 1900th by people into the occult and mystics. While the term OBE came around 1960 or so, by people who did not want to have their experiences be associated with pre-set beliefs and the occult that were connected witht he term astral projection.

Weither this is true or not I cannot say for sure. What I can say is that you can find people who claim various things in regards to these terms. Some people for instance connect Astral Projection with experiences within the inner planes, while they connect OBE with experiences in (or rather near) the physical dimension.

In reality however I would personally say that there is no difference, usually they are referring to the same thing. Someone can be leaving body and travel around (or close to) the physical dimensiom, to then move inwards into the higher planes and their realities, and then back to physical dimension...

What is then the point of separating them? They are the same thing.

In order to tell you how it works, we would need to know what you want to know, since it is a very general question. Very simply though, you leave body and can travel throughout the dimensions... ;)

Because of my own lore I call astral projection more of a Yetziratic experience and an OBE just a way to view the universe from a perspective separate from the physical body.

How it works is basically the somatic awareness is shifted from the physical organism to the astral double.
There are a million and one different ways to make that change in awareness occur.
