Switching your concentration on the heart beat to the sensation in your body ruins the attempt. You will have to keep your concentartion fixed on the heart or whatever technique you will be applying. This is crusial in order to achieve astral projection. Give it your best effort every single time and you will discover how the whole process is working till eventually you will astral project.

Thats really interesting when you opened your eyes, i've had that happen to me except I wasn't trying anything, it was before I knew about any of this, the walls would just turn a shade of light green randomly.

Green is said to be the color of the heart chakra. You might find it fun to try the following:
Open up the notepad windows utility and maximize the window, then put one hand on the white monitor screen. Now stare in the middle of the hand while trying to pay attention to the white outside of the hand... You should if doing it properly be able to detect one or two colors around the hand over the white.

If this color is green it MIGHT indicate that you aura has a large portion and green is dominating in it. This might then (might again) give a clue as to why the color you perceived was green (reason you saw colors though is related to 3rd eye).

Now this notepad thing should not be taken too seriously, but for some reason it actually seem to be more or less accurate or something to it. If the colors correlate, it does not of course guarantee this to be the explaination, but it would be a possibility...
