You could attempt to investigate if for yourself, and see what you find out.

I know that things like that can be very difficult, especially when just projecting is an uncommon experience for someone.

Besides, if the world really does start ending, and all the prophets of times old and new are shown to have been right, doesn't that prove there is something more to life than the material world, and thus, nothing to fear in death?
