Jordan Resnick
Jordan’s Biography
For Jordan Resnick, teaching is both a passion and a vocation. Having studied religion and English at the University of Toronto, Jordan went on to pursue post-graduate training as an English instructor. However, his personal love of teaching finds greatest fulfillment as an instructor of Gnosis, a role he has held since 2003.
Jordan was first introduced to Modern Gnosis by a group of friends, and initially he had little interest in the subject. However, an inner urge motivated him to explore further, and – using a method that was to become second-nature for him – he put the stories of his friends to one side and set out to explore the matter for himself. Patiently practising the techniques taught on the Gnosticweb courses, he gained spiritual experiences that deeply altered his view of life. These experiences motivated him to dedicate his life to sharing these teachings with others.
Jordan’s teaching is characterized by this same practical and individualistic approach, and he has conveyed it to numerous students around the world. Whether offering lectures on Dreams and Out-of-Body Experiences, Meditation, the essentials of Self-Knowledge, or any other topic, Jordan has a knack for cutting through abstraction and jargon, tackling complex problems and issues with a refreshingly simple approach, and offering students the practical steps needed to gain their own experience.
Since 2004 Jordan has coordinated the Gnostic Centre in Toronto, successfully bringing hundreds of students through the courses and guiding the centre through many stages of growth. He has taught at all levels online and participated in coordinating numerous retreats. Jordan also forms an important part of Gnosticweb’s online technical team, supervising and coordinating the uploading and checking of all website content and moderating the public side of the site.
Jordan’s most recent accomplishment has been successfully locating a permanent home for Gnosticweb in Toronto – a friendly and inviting environment for teaching, practising, and community events.
Some words from Jordan
I found out about Gnosis through some friends. When first introduced to the ideas taught in these courses however, I was admittedly quite sceptical of them. Nonetheless, after a little while, I decided that I wanted to find out whether the various exercises and practices actually had any value.
So after finally getting myself to read through some of the topics online, I was very eager and excited to attend one of the lectures given at a local library here by the teacher at the time. It was so impressive and I really felt as though I had indeed found something worthwhile.
From this point on, I was inspired time and again to get my own personal experience of these teachings, and was shown that it is very possible – that anyone can do it. It becomes remarkably obvious that when put into practice, the information given on the courses has the power to change lives in a truly meaningful way...
I've always felt lucky to have been able to attend these courses in person, and so had taken it upon myself right from the beginning to further my own experience, such that I too could eventually share this information with others. Now given this opportunity as a teacher, it is amazing to see not only the benefits of the practices in myself, but also, the strength that a group trying them out together can achieve.
The group in Toronto is really gathering strength now and I look forward to being a part of it all as it continues moving ahead.
