Jo Jameson

Jo’s Biography

Jo Jameson has long had a profound interest in the mysteries of the human psyche: the reasons why we think, feel, and act the way we do. This deep-rooted need for understanding has led her on a determined and life-long search for answers. Jo obtained a degree in psychology but still felt that something was eluding her – too many questions remained uncertain. Conventional psychology seemed to lack depth so she continued searching, longing for an understanding of human nature that encompassed a greater spiritual potential.

A poster advertising ‘Esoteric Psychology’ offered the tantalizing possibility of real answers. “After that, she says, “everything came into perspective.” The understanding that she was seeking began to emerge: using techniques for self-discovery, the secrets of the psyche gradually became clearer, and some eye-opening out-of-body experiences revealed an exciting new facet of life. Jo devoted herself to discovering as much as she could and began to teach in 2002.

Jo has a remarkable array of abilities and wide-ranging expertise. She has administered several online courses, been featured in multiple media appearances, supervised Gnosticweb’s public communications areas, coordinated publicity and advertising, given numerous talks at spiritual festivals and bookstores, organized several international retreats – all while directing the Gnostic Movement’s largest centre, located in Sydney, Australia. After coordinating the Sydney Gnostic Centre for five years, she went on to establish the London Gnostic Group – the first to operate in the UK.

Both online and in person, Jo teaches with an understanding that comes from years of experience, and there are few who have not benefited from her cheerful and friendly guidance.

Some words from Jo

Prior to finding Gnosis, I felt an uneasiness within, a type of void that was always just there in the background. I tried filling it with pleasurable activities like parties and holidays but this never made me happy. I explored different religions, looked through books to see which ideas grabbed me the most and dabbled in different courses and workshops, but I still felt that I was missing something.

In 2000 I saw a poster on 'Esoteric Psychology' by The Gnostic Movement. I had always been interested in psychology and had been studying it for several years at university, but I felt that the modern conventional approach lacked any real depth. I found it very subjective with many different theories that tried to explain the same thing. How I understood psychology would depend on what person's theory I decided to adopt. I also wondered how I could be a psychologist and help others when I still had little understanding of my own psychology. I started to look towards spirituality to answer some of the questions I had.

Within a short period of time of taking up the course in Esoteric Psychology and using the techniques of awareness and self-observation I had learned more about psychology than I had in four years at university and I started to gain a much more in-depth understanding of it. For me I had found something tangible and real, not simply words on a page that belonged to 'just another theory'. It was something that could be directly investigated and verified.

Along with the astral travel course and learning to have experiences there, my life took on a whole new direction and I was learning to use my life for something very valuable rather than to just get consumed by society and daily life without having achieved anything of real worth. The techniques in the courses have enabled me to gain answers to questions I had been seeking for a long time and to give me the means to change certain aspects of myself. I am so grateful to have found Gnosis and now that I have begun teaching, I have the opportunity to pass on what has been given to me, with the hope that others will find it as valuable and awe-inspiring as I have.
