Ioannis Syrigos
Ioannis’ Biography
While acquiring his PhD in Computer Science, Ioannis Syrigos learned the importance of achieving tangible results. His career as a professor, web-developer, and project manager taught him the same thing. And so when he felt himself experiencing a deep uncertainty about the direction of his life, he knew that it would take more than a simple belief to satisfy him. In his determined search for the spiritual, he refused to accept anyone else’s word on faith. He wanted results: he wanted the tools to discover the truth for himself.
When he discovered Gnosis in 2002, Ioannis decided to approach his spiritual exercises with the same discipline and dedication as his professional projects. He explored every angle, analyzed every obstacle, and persisted through success and failure. When he gradually began to experience some incredible things, he realized that he had found something important. And this conviction drove him to share what he had found.
Since becoming a teacher in 2004, Ioannis has pursued his goals with an explosive enthusiasm; as a result, Gnostic groups have blossomed across the Mediterranean. Opening the first European Gnostic Centre in Athens, Ioannis soon branched out to coordinate a group in the nearby city of Patras, and later set-up shop in Salonica. Then, capitalizing on the enthusiasm in nearby Cyprus, he founded a centre in the Cypriot capital of Nicosia, which he coordinates concurrently with the centre in Athens. Recently he has moved to London to help with the opening of the Gnostic Center there.
As a teacher, Ioannis has captivated students with his clarity, his insight, and his eloquence; he speaks from experience and with a personal touch. In addition to teaching, he has worked in numerous ways to bring Gnosis to the Greek-speaking world. He is the Greek translator of all the works of Belzebuub, the later works and interviews of Samael Aun Weor, and the The Flight of the Feathered Serpent, which contains the works of Judas. He has made numerous media interviews around Greece and Cyprus to discuss Gnosis and other spiritual topics, including nearly 40 television appearances to date. And he has coordinated 7 Gnostic retreats, enabling students to explore their own spirituality on a deeper level.
With tireless dedication, Ioannis continues his own spiritual search, sharing his insights with thousands of around the world.
Some Words from Ioannis
Although I had done many things in my life that our modern society considers successful and things that are supposed to “promote” a happy life, I always knew that something important was missing.
Nothing of what I did really changed my life. It was more like making me forget about my life and forget about myself. It was like toys given to kids in order to have something to play with and forget about the reality of things; forget to go deeper into the meaning of life and our true purpose in life. I always had metaphysical worries, trying to look for something more than what we can see.
I have looked for different organizations that could give me answers, but I was looking for answers that I could prove and not just theories. There are many theories around but nobody tells you how to prove them for yourself. And I definitely didn’t want to be another believer of some theory or a religion.
Most of the organizations out there were trying to take advantage of the people's desire to search for the truth behind life in order to make profit from it. So I was very cautious while searching.
I found Gnosis and Gnosticweb in 2002 after searching for a long time on the Internet and in my country for something significant and with profound esoteric importance. At the beginning I thought of it as something similar to the other organizations and I didn’t pay much attention. But as time went by, I began to realize that something was different here. Everything made sense, and when I began to apply the techniques proposed in these courses I began to verify for myself the truth of some of it. Things seemed to get more serious every day and I realized that in order to go deeper into this search I had to devote myself to that. There were so many things to explore, so much truth to uncover, so many things to learn and these studies have shown me an interesting and really fulfilling exploration journey.
My life really began to have a meaning. There is nothing more fulfilling and more important than having your own experience of something that is written. And this is why I wanted more people to know about this and more people to investigate and find the answers that I have found.
Every day this journey becomes more interesting and the efforts I'm putting into something in my life are for the first time are really rewarding!
