Hi! I had my first OBE by accident when I was in middle school. I've been very interested ever since. I've never been able to get out of my room! But that's another story! Well.. I was raised catholic until I later realized I wasn't. Then I considered myself an atheist. I realized that was a little too harsh.. so I decided I was an agnostic. Now I found the right term for me which is irreligious because I do feel that I am spiritual.. obviously! So.. my question is this... When you astral project, I see that many ask for a Divine Mother.. or a Higher Being, etc... Since I only believe in myself... and see myself.. I wouldn't say as God, but I have no proof of believing in anything other than myself.. How can I astral project and ask for help? Should I ask maybe someone that I know that has passed.. like my grandmother? The problem is I don't believe in a higher being.. unless.. who knows... I'll realize otherwise in an OBE? Never know! Thanks in advance for your advice. :)

A divine mother or father is a part of yourself that is said to exist on the higher planes. This is my understanding of the what is taught here. Maybe next time you have an out of body experiance, you could ask your divine mother to take you somewhere. Then you could find out for yourself if such a being exists - if you get taken somewhere or shown something then you know that asking her has worked.

Hi salsera

Or if you truely want to understand, try asking even in the physical for divinity to reveal it self to you, and it might wake you up in the astral and show and make you realize it does exist, or it might even come to you right in the physical. Just ask from the bottom of your being.

Hi!

There's actually no need to believe in higher beings or the Divine Mother to be able to project. Sounds like you have a healthy attitude to the whole thing when you say you don't believe in anyone but yourself - when it comes down to it all we really need to astral project (relaxation + concentration, or other practices) is stuff we do ourselves anyway. Help from higher beings may or may not be a factor in our successes, but the less we concern ourselves with that, the better off we are. The DIY approach is what will make it happen for you, because we can develop everything we need to without needing to concern ourselves with divine help.

Essentially, whether or not higher beings exist is something we can find out, experience in the astral can show you directly who may or may not be there to help you. The Divine Mother is 'verifiable' too. But there's no point asking for help from beings we don't know are real, because then we can start applying our own stuff to what's really there and lose sight of what we need to do to figure stuff out. So keep practicing and go by your experience, and you're sure to find success :-)

There is no need to believe in any particular being, in fact you shouldn't believe... However it is good to keep in mind that it is equally bad to disbelieve as it is to believe... They both pull a filter over your eyes, preventing you from seeing that which is behind your internal illusion. If you believe in something then you will be blinded by that belief and try and match everything which you encounter into the belief, and even dismiss that which does not fit it. To disbelieve is the same, it will hinder you from finding that which is truth, since if you assume something to be not true... then how can you find it and know it?

To ask for help can be quite beneficial at times... You do not need to believe in any particular being. However you might want to remain open minded, and not dismiss the possibility of external help. When in the astral and you request for help, and it is given to you... At least you will know there is someone there listening and able to help, even if you might not know who...

If you refuse to ask, then it will be hard to find out if such help is available or not...

Might also be worthwhile to mention that the divine father and divine mother, are in actual facts yourself... only higher dimensional aspects of yourself.

I would say the key point is experience.

Do not force yourself to believe, or to pray when it doesn't feel natural. Stand solely upon your own experience and always do what you think is best to move forward.

Praying I find is a tricky thing, because in order to pray naturally and truthfully we need to have something to relate to. In the beginning, when we don't, it's easy to just form a mental image of what we think is there, and pray to that image in our minds instead of something real. Like an image or idea of the Divine Mother, or of Divine Beings. Of course I've found this isn't very effective.

In the beginning, you need to rely mostly on yourself, put in as much effort as you can to uncover things about yourself, what this life is really about, through the practices of awareness, self-observation and astral projection, as they are taught in the courses.

Through effort and experience, praying gradually comes to us more naturally.

It is incredible how many good advices are coming from all directions including mine, each is coming out from a good intention; Pray! Don't pray! This is right, thas is left and this is wrong!

God help you all to see what is and not what you think is.

In respect to all advice given, the diversity of the advice alone is essential in creating new perspective. With each option brings more innovation ultimately leading to a better foundation of understanding, which from what I understand is the essence of this topic. Keep that in mind when taking and giving advice or instruction.

i say dont beleive and disbeleive.

keep your mind open (especially in the astral)
because as said above, you wont be able to perceive what is really there, because your mind will be coverd in beleif or disbeleif.
