Although I try hard to have full blown astral experiences, I get stuck in these ruts of lucid dreaming. Last night I realised I was in a dream, I started jumping and nothing was happening. I absolutely knew I was dreaming however, I refused to not let it work and after three tries I finally took to the air. I immediately asked to be taken somewhere where I needed to learn and the scenery faded and I woke up. It seems that when I ask to be shown something, I always wake up and am not taken anywhere. Is this normal? Or is it that I need to worry about the waking, physical world before I do any more astral/dream excersizes? Mabey someone who has been through this can enlighten me with their experience. Thanks! ! |

Hey Apakhana,
This has happened to me a few times, too. And it can be rather frustrating - I'd much rather receive a spiritual teaching than wind up in bed.
Although they can be very subtle, I think emotions could be responsible. In one experience, I had recently after gaining clarity, as I began to invoke a Master, a very slight emotion came over me. It only happened for an instant. The emotion wasn't fear or excitement but whatever it was, after it came up, I quickly wound up in bed.
Something else related to emotions that can bring us back are tiny thoughts about our physical body. The thoughts don't have to be as elaborate as, "I'm out of my physical body." They could just be a "background" thought about our physical body and we can be taken back.
Another thing it might be is the influence of a negative entity, although I find in these cases I often can sense negativity in my surroundings. I am now trying to get into the habit of doing the recitations if I wake up in my dreams so that negative entities cannot bother me in case they are around.
I hope this helps.
Happy astral!
Mike

If it were anything negative then that is a good idea I will try next time, thanks!

Hello Apakhana,
That has happened to me too, and yes I know your frustration :-)
Whenever going back to the physical body though there is a little trick that can put you straight back into the astral consciously.
Basically it involves concentrating on the last feelings and sensations you just had from your experience IE flying through the air and feeling the wind over your body and the feeling of freedom.
Sometimes when what you mentioned happens you can feel yourself start to lose it. So get prepared and start focusing on how everything feels and continue to do that until your back in the astral. I have not gotten this to work after association with my physical body, so concentrate hard and refuse to accept your back in he physical.
This can take a little bit of practice but it has helped me to come out again a few times.
All the best
P.S. Great work on waking up in the astral by the way. You must be putting in some good efforts for that to happen or for the help to be given. Keep it up.

Thanks for sharing that tip, Adam. It sounds very useful and like something I should have attempted in that recent, brief experience.
It also reminded me of another tip that is helpful in staying out in the astral longer and that is to hold onto something - a rock, a door frame, basically anything. If nothing is around to grab then being very aware can be a good anchor (though it's always important to be aware).
Best wishes!

Good one MikeL,
I forgot all about that one. Thanks for adding it in for us all. It is indeed a very useful practical and easy to implement tip.
Cheers.

Hi Apakhana,
You may have the answer with the question: "Or is it that I need to worry about the waking, physical world before I do any more astral/dream exercises?"
What I am suggesting is that rather than asking some angel or higher self to immediately take you some where else, other options may include:
1) Express gratitude by thanking the powers that be for your ability to become lucid in a dream. Maybe prior to becoming lucid your dreaming body was being abused by the egos and/or negative entities and they had to immediately leave to prevent you from discovering what mischief they may be up to every night. (Some times parasites or viruses work by keeping their host ignorant of their existence, and if the host found out, he or she would take steps to get rid of them).
2) Instead of asking to be immediately flown off to a spiritual temple, closely examine your surroundings. If you only have forward viewing vision (as most people do in the physical world) instead of 360 degree (wrap-around) vision it may be a good idea to bend your vision around to the back side of yourself to check for negative energy or a negative entity that may be immediately behind you. Maybe you where already taken to a place where you could confront this scenario if need be?
3) Have an intelligent strategy for an encounter with negative entities if they are contributing to the reason for your inability to travel to a more spiritual location. You could try the conjurations in the Astral Travel and Dreams book but perhaps you are in their territory and the only trespasser is you. I'm not suggesting that you try to rationalize with them and suggest that they adopt spiritually healthy lifestyles, but rather confront them and ask them what they are doing. Then strongly demand that they leave you alone. Maybe they are simply doing their job and routinely feed off of negative energy that accumulates daily on one's aura? It may be necessary to examine and learn about the enemy in order to be victorious against the powers of evil.
4) If you can not fly off to a better location then ask why you where taken to your current location. This ties back to suggestion #2 where you closely examine your surroundings.
5) As you wake up from sleep, try to look around you and observe what is happening in your bedroom in the astral. Maybe some thing important (although not necessary positive) is happening that you need to be aware of. Could negative entities be present that drain away energy (the jet fuel you need to zoom off to the Gnostic temples)?
I apologize in advance if these suggestions are incorrect or do not apply to your situation, or if providing these suggestions violates some rule of hermetic silence. I'm just a beginner at level #1 and wanted to provide some insight (which may only be applicable to newbies such as myself) and varies from the more advanced Gnosticweb students and masters. I might delete this posting in a day or so if the moderators don't delete it (as they have done with some of my postings in the past) so please let me know if it is helpful in any way. Thank you.

Hey Paul,
From what I have experienced its best not to look for negative entities in the astral. If you expect an attack one will always happen, if its not a negative entity it will be a negative form created by the subconscious of you looking and expecting one to be around.
I find it best just to be clear and focussed on what one wants to do to limit any mental or dream interference and extend the time one has there.
Examining the immediate surroundings though is not a bad idea as we may have woken up or projected there for a reason. That and observing clearly can help ground oneself and help boost the consciousness for clearer and longer astral time.
All the best.

Just wanted to add that I remembered I tried to talk with one girl in my dream when I became lucid trying to help her wake up too but in the end I lost consciousness and fell in the dream. So I think it is not a good idea to try to talk with someone or talk a lot if you are not more experienced with that to maintain the awareness.
All the best to you Paul! :)
