Hi there,
I am wondering if there is a difference between nightmares and bad dreams. A teacher once told me that nightmares have a particular
"flavour" to them. I'm not sure I understand what this means. Do you always experience intense fear in a nightmare and wake up suddenly
with your heart pounding? I know that some nightmares are visits to the infra-dimensions so how do you tell a nightmare from a bad dream?

Hello Matilda,

I had a nightmare not long ago and there was a definite flavour to it that was much different to a bad dream. In a nightmare there is an incredibly strong feeling of fear and even horror where as in a bad dream there may be fear but its no where as strong or predominate.
In a nightmare we are dragged down to the infra-dimensions like you mentioned where fear there seems to make up the actual atmosphere.
In a bad dream there may be fear but its more of an internal type due to images from the subconscious being played out. So it may be unpleasant but its not anywhere near overpowering. This is something that really needs to be experienced to be understood.
I hope that clears it up a little more though either way I hope you get neither :-)
All the best.

From my experience the atmosphere feels very heavy and if you are able to look around, the sky or environment is usually tainted with a reddish color. Emotions are also strenghtened (be it fear, anger, lust, etc.)

That is my experience anyway, I don't know what others have experienced.

Thanks Adam and Martijn,
That sounds consistent with what I was told and I see that there is a difference.
Wish you well with the Work.
