Isn't it wrong to completly shutdown emotins to get awarness???.Feelings are the things that makes us humans.if i see an aniaml suffer or a dog outside that look into your eyes hoping youll take him is so painfull to me.Avoiding feelings in my opinion just make us robots because even if its love or hatred it still type of emotions and not having those can make us monsters!!! Being emotinless is like being the best serial killer or speznaz soldier. even when i listen to music sometimes i get butterfly feeling in my stomatch and feelings of rash over my body and i can't really help it.it happens just from the song even if i don't think about anything, thats why were humans and not robots |

When you are in awareness you are in a state of self-observation of the emotions and thoughts that arise within and what happens outside of you. Talking about animals I will give you an example with myself.I was outside with my friends and we were very hungry and we sat on a bench.I could see a little kitten walking around that seemed very hungry too so it stared at me and then a thought crossed my mind that if I had more food I could have given it and what I was eating was taste enough to waste it but in the same time I felt some kind of compassion towards it so at that moment I pulled out myself of the selfish emotion I had and I shared my food with the kitten.
I am very sensite when I see animals that suffer or they are abandoned like you said but in time I realized I can't save the whole world so all I can do (except helping in that moment) is to hope there will be another good human that will take care of them after that.
That's it from me!

Hi Kosta,
I used to feel the same away about awareness until I actually learnt more about it and gained more experience with it.
Many emotions we commonly experience are actually rooted in our subconscious - emotions like anger, fear and pride for example.
With awareness, the states that come from our consciousness (our "soul", if you will) arise, and included in these states are feelings of compassion, love, inner peace and happiness.
It's not that awareness means we don't feel emotions, but we can experience higher emotional states and act with a clear mind. Peace is such an amazing feeling and through awareness we can experience it even amidst difficult situations like job interviews, traffic jams, etc.
What is more robotic, in my opinion, is simply reacting to each situation - being nervous with butterflies in the stomach at the interview and becoming irate in a traffic jam. With the awareness we can go beyond a typical programmed response, acting with our consciousness.
And of course with awareness we can still take in a lost dog on the street and feed it :)
I hope this perspective helps.
All the best!

Hi kosta,
It is the emotions that's the program. From morning to evening we act according to what we have inside. Anger, hate, nervousness, lust, etc appears during the day and this is actually what we can call the program.
If someone do something unfair to you it will probably trigger an emotion inside of you, anger for example. If we instead eliminate anger we will replace it with awareness and just observe the situation, no hate and no suffering. I know from my own experience that have have been angry and slammed doors, etc and afterwards I have regret it badly and suffered. With more awareness the ability to experience love increases and we can help others.
Look at the planet you live on, all the wars, greed, hatered, etc. We have those things here on this planet because of the emotions we have inside.

I definately agree that the way emotions make people sway to one end of the spectrum or another IS the robotic-like program our unaware minds tend to follow.
Being aware is so easy once you figure it out, but it's those things that pull us away from awareness using the emotions that make being aware so extremely difficult at times.
I have found that it is well worth making sacrifices towards living a lifestyle that is less stressfull. It makes the work easier when we don't complicate things by worrying about this or that.

you know what is a really good book that talks about the human anatomy (ie the brain) is the idiot's guide to improving memory. I was wondering why you can't keep awareness for long and it sort of explained the answer. Bottom line is each new thought impression only stays in memory a few seconds before its taken away from another thought thats how the mind goes on and on. If you can keep to one thought but different situations and keep doing it for 1 hour i noticed its easy to come back to awareness because you just trained your mind to stay aware with the exercise. The worst is to stay on one thought for a long period of time, this is a major flip flop you may be 12 hours in peace or awareness or whatever but 12 hours later in misery because you get the opposite of what you desire best is to keep changing the flip flop is much less.

Hey Jimmy,
Thanks for raising that point about the impressions constantly changing, it seems pretty spot on in terms of how my mind seems to work.
On the Gnostic Wisdom course here there is a technique to actually disintegrate the negative thoughts and emotions though, every time you see them come up. It's truly amazing!
I used to have problems with depression and misery and it would stay for days on end, even weeks sometimes. But with the technique rather than just having to try and change your way of thinking you can actually get rid of those things completely. When they go you have a feeling of quiet and peace inside. I never thought I'd be able to be free of them or achieve that!
I'd highly recommend doing the course if you're interested!

When having a thought that interfeirs with your awarness,
Does it a thought that you imagining like a movie/picture etc or even if you just hear in the mind diffrent sentenses???i mean i can block the picture/movie image but i can still hear words.Usually i block it by starting to look to all the sides like crazy person,if i count steps or notice my breathing or just keep reading stuff in the mind does it count as a thought or i actaully help my awarness to stay on target????

I think with this you push away the ego by concentrating on something. When concentrating on 1 thing only, it is using the conscience.
Although when reading stuff in the mind, it is too easy to get lost in another ego of thought.
There are higher and lower emotions, for example when eliminating hate in you, then compassion gets born.
The lower emotions are robotic as stated before.

Hi Kosta,
Thanks for sharing, is it not great to learn from each other?
It seems for me that you are going in the right direction with experimenting how to be more aware and to confront the mind and emotions.
For myself, usually, I just try to help my awareness by trying to be fully aware of all I can perceive, seeing with my eyes fully and naturally, hearing the sounds around, feeling my body, its position, muscles, contact with environment, etc., all, trying to be aware of all what I can perceive.
It's very natural when I get it and it feels right, it feels good. Feeling unity with everything around me, going away from the illusion of any "I", of any separation.
Being in the present moment, just in the place where I am, physically, emotionally and mentally.
Good luck with your practices, Everyone!

Hi Kosta,
It can be a movie or picture type of thought that can take you away from the awareness as Vadim described it, or it can be sentences that you hear, or conversations in your head with other people. Any thought really that comes into your head, even the ones that read in your mind when you read will take the awareness away until you can get it back.
Counting steps or being aware of your breathing, or looking at where you are [you don't have to do it like a crazy person! :)] sound like a good way to keep your awareness on target.
As you go along it becomes easier to feel the difference between being in awareness and having thoughts or feelings interfering and taking you away from it.
All the best,
David
