The Evolution of the Practice Rooms - Update on the Back Section of the Gnostic Centre in Toronto

Hi All,

For those curious about where we're at with the back practice rooms, here's an update...

We've still been busy at work every day at the Centre, inching towards getting the back practice rooms ready for use. It's now at a point where we've started to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

The practice room on the right just needs to have the light-blue carpet put down, the back hallway needs the floor layed down, and the meditation room on the left needs to be primed, and painted yellow, then we can lay down the red carpet. Below are some pictures from the start until now of what's going on back there!

The back hallway now - just the floors need to be layed down tonight or tomorrow...

Meditation room with ceiling painted blue. Also, with small wall frame built around the 'unremovable gas pipe'. We put drywall up the other day around the frame, so it looks good as new.

As you can see, once all the former stuff was removed, plaster and drywall was put up to make the walls smooth.

Same shot as the above, this time with the plaster fully on the wall and the dust in the air from sweeping up the room...

So here we are with the meditation room so far. The ceiling now needs some touch-ups, and can you hear the walls? They are asking to be primed and then painted yellow tomorrow night. The carpet will be a nice red - there you have it, the three true primary colours for the meditation room.

Here's the other practice room (seen on your right in the 'back hallway' picture) after having been primed everywhere, getting the ceiling painted a warm white by Ruben. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of this room at the start because it was 3 rooms! The walls came down and now we have a pretty big general senior practice room. Both this and the meditation room can fit around 17 people sitting up against the walls, or, 8 people lying down.

Here it is with the ceiling finished and the walls having a first coat of 'gold sunset' put on with the rollers. We went back to do the edges and a second coat afterwards.

Here it is with the walls and ceiling finished, as well as all the tools and materials back in here again so that we could get back to work on the hallway and the meditation room. The painting tools and materials are all behind me in this shot.

There you have it, a senior practice room in the making!

Thanks a lot for the update

Thanks a lot for the update Jordan. A lot of work has gone into that place!
Those rooms look very enticing especially to lure us into the silent bliss of a still and peaceful mind...

"All phenomena are discontinuous; the dogma of Evolution is useless, except for us to become stagnant. I know many pseudo-esotericists, sincere people and of good heart, who are bottled up in the dogma of Evolution, who wait for time to perfect them and millions of years elapse and they never perfect themselves. "Therefore, we need to go beyond Evolution and enter the revolutionary path, the path of the Revolution of Consciousness or of the Dialectic."

Thanks for the update Jordan. I look forward to seeing the progress on your Revolution of the Practice Rooms.

Peace,

You've sure been keeping busy.
The colours look nice. Will be good to see it with the red carpet .

Thanks for the encouragement

Thanks for the encouragement all. Jim's onto something about revolution - if we don't do something revolutionary in there soon, these rooms won't be done until our lease is up!

I'll post an update with some pictures in one or two days. Although we pushed it to the limit and beyond, unfortunately time won the battle this weekend, so the carpets haven't been layed down just yet.

One good thing about it I've noticed is along the lines of what Gabrielle was alluding too in her recent blog - making these efforts together in a group to accomplish something has shown us a valuable lesson on many levels, from the power that people working together have both physically and internally, to the immense opportunity to learn about yourself psychologically given a simple ongoing physical task such as renovating...
