Hey Everyone I stumbled across some posts where people were talking about tarot cards, and the symbolism in the cards. I looked up tarot and found this web site that had all the different tarot decks, they were very inspiring i just cant get over the art work and symbolism that people have put into these cards. Is tarot good/bad? I was wondering what your thoughts were on this? Thank You. Have a great day/night. |

Hi,
I noticed not all decks are the same. People interpret the symbolism differently too, even though it stems from one source.
There are discrepancies in the major arcana between decks that I think would affect the overall outcome, depending on which deck you use.
Although I understand the symbols, I don't get how drawing random cards is supposed to tell you anything ...
If they really worked, you could re-draw the cards and you'd get the exact same ones, right? Or does knowing affect another draw/re-draw (convienient for gypsies and charletons).
I think it's just for fun, but I find better use of symbols by interpreting my own dreams instead of playing with the cards.

I don't know if tarot is good or bad.I have bought such cards 1-2 years ago.I have the traditional ones but what was kinda hard for me was to find a guide for reading which I can understand.I don't know if they predict the future but they always catch my mood. What I mean is when I do the Celtic cross reading I can see on the places for the mind and the heart if they are separated or if they work together and in what direction. Also sometimes they give me another perspective of the things.I do reading to myself when I have nothing to do or just for fun.
My mother can read with normal cards.Whenever my neighbour asks her for a reading most if not all the times she is accurate. It is funny when the neighbours come and say it happened that and that and you were right! :D There was one time when she began to describe the person's character and I asked her how do you know how do you see it from the card? And she tells me that sometimes she feels things which you can't see from the cards and other times different words come to her mind like someone is telling her what to say. I asked her ones if the tarot cards has predicted something after using them for some time but she is not so sure yet.She told me one time when she was reading with tarot cards to a friend and she asked him to think of a question while he was shuffling the cards and she said the cards ordered in such a way that she could see his question was about a job. It is just interesting!
That's it from me!

From what I've heard about tarot cards (please take this with a grain of salt), they were initially used as a way to understand creation and life similar to the kabbalah.
So they're a way to find truth, but apparently nowadays they're mostly just used for divination and fortune telling, which in some cases can be bad I think if they're not used properly.
That said I've never used them, so what I said above is secondhand information.

The tarot is awesome and can be used in many different ways. Of course, most people go to tarot readers because they want to know the future, but many of us use the tarot for spiritual awareness and growth.
For instance, this week I asked what part of my spiritual lessons should I be working on right now? I got The Moon. The Moon card symbolizes the subconscious, dreams, visions, our interconnectedness, the astral plane, etc.
So, I'm on the right track in my reading and studies. This site is new to me. I don't really know what Gnostism is, but what drew me here was the course in astral travel. I have Belzebuub's book Astral Travel and Dreams, which had a link to this site.
I've been studying Buddhism for a few years, but the Gnostics is new to me.

Hi Dana,
Welcome to Gnosticweb!
How are you finding the Astral Travel and Dreams book? I was drawn to this site by the course in astral travel too!
If you want to learn more about what Gnosis is, you might like to have a look at some of the pages under "The Gnostic Way" tab.
From what I understand, Gnosis is a Greek word that means knowledge or to know. And that knowledge is gained through personal experience. That's why the courses on this site and the Astral Travel and Dreams book are so practically orientated, so that you can actually verify the information you're given rather than just having to believe it. And so you can have real spiritual experiences and experience spiritual states rather than just having to read or dream about them.
I find that really cool! When I was first starting out in the courses I was even told not to believe what I was being taught until I could prove it for myself.
All the best for your search!

Hi David,
Thank you for the response. Yes, I agree the spiritual path has to be one we follow ourselves and isn't shoved down our throats through a bunch of dogma and stuff someone said eons ago. Buddhism follows this idea as well, that you have to look into your own mind to discover the truth.
I like it a lot that the astral travel is being used as a spiritual path. I haven't learned it yet, but I'm doing the exercises and how to discover the astral plane for myself soon.
The other courses here look really neat too.

The other courses are pretty cool too. What I was surprised at was that for a long time I was really interested in astral travel, and through the course here and experiencing it, I found out it's an amazing thing, but I've actually got the most benefit out of the other courses rather than the astral one.
I've found it great to be able to astral travel but I'm still not that good at it yet, and sometimes my experiences don't come that frequently. But being able to experience really tangible things and see obvious beneficial changes in my life, things like overcoming problems with depression (we learn how to do that in the Self Discovery and Gnostic Wisdom courses) is really life changing.
I hope you really enjoy the courses :)

Thank you, David, for your viewpoint. I am interested in taking the other courses as well, as my main reason for wanting to learn astral travel is for spiritual growth.
I hadn't heard of Gnostics till I read this book on astral travel for the course. I really like what I've read so far, till I got to one part that threw me a bit. Belzebuub said in order to get to the higher dimensions (or maybe it was planes) you have to build a vehicle, a body, to get you there. And that method is sex. I thought what the heck???? It's the solar body I'm referring to. He calls all the others lunar bodies,.
I know there is likely a lot more behind this statement to be explained, and it may just be a matter of language and technique. But I just found that rather absurd. There are lots of people who have claimed to have reached these higher vibrational places, but maybe they naturally have the body he is speaking of due to past life work, or even this life work. I know some authors of astral travel books say to work on our energy bodies through visualizations exercises to raise our frequencies and to attain higher places in astral travel. It may be the same thing Belzebuub is referring to. But this is the first I've heard sex mentioned for that.
I understand sex for many animals results in birth. BUT birth can happen without sex. We give birth to ideas and thoughts, and many animals simply, split, rather than have sex. I just thought it was bizarre, but I haven't heard his reasoning yet. It made me a little doubtful though and suspicious.
I've been studying Buddhism for quite a while, and in those teachings they warn to be careful of sex because we can get so attached to it, addicted and distracted. So, seeing this kind of Belzebuub reference to sex just seemed counter to what I've been taught.
I'm not going to give up because of that, however. I am interested in learning more about this spiritual path.

Hi Dana,
I got thrown a bit by that too when I was first into Gnostic stuff. It's nothing to worry about though :)
As I understand it, anyone can go to the astral, mental and causal planes (which are in the 5th and 6th dimensions) just as we are now. You probably would have read in the astral book that everyone goes to the astral every night when we sleep, which you can verify by waking up in a dream and realising you're in the astral.
As I understand it though, some people who either have done this work in a past life and created superior bodies then, or those who have created superior bodies to the ones most people have in their current life, can access even higher planes of existence, and some parts of the ones I mentioned that most people can't.
Most of us are brought into the world as a result of sex so it makes sense to me that the forces in it are pretty powerful. I think the difference is that in the courses we're taught how to use those forces to develop spiritually, rather than becoming addicted to them etc. I was also told too by a friend of mine who is Sri Lankan that some buddhist monks he knows of do actually marry, I found that quite interesting!
Sex and the sexual energies are a pretty big topic though. How it relates to astral travel is explained more thoroughly over a couple of weeks in the Gnostic Wisdom course.
I'm glad you're not going to give up because of that though. I almost did, but I'm really glad I didn't!
All the best,
David

Hello Pure!
Tarot Cards aren't good or bad. They are like tools, it depends how we use them. They are used to get answers to questions about life. The more consciousness that we have the better that we can use them, if we have a poor spiritual level we cannot understand the symbolism. But it's interesting to study Tarot as we progress in the spiritual work. Sometimes I have dreams where I find numbers and symbols similar to the Tarot, so looking at the cards help me to interpret the dreams too. There is a book from Samael Aun Weor called Kabbalah and Tarot.
Blessings
Maria
