It's fun and everything, but how is it as good as a concious astral experience? If we know we are dreaming, then doesn't that inhibit us in a way regarding recieving teachings? Why try to control a dream when we can project from it instead? Isn't it just a concious fantasy as opposed to travelling about in the astral dimesion? Does anyone have any good ideas about why we should lucid dream? |

Hi Apakhana,
Why should we astral project? Why should we lucid dream?
For some it is to have fun. For others to learn about things that do not directly concern them. For a few it is to see, understand and change them selves. Whether it will be in lucid dreaming or in the astral plane each one will get from those experiences what he came to look for.
Even if what we see there is fantasy (which is not conscious if it projects itself without questioning whether you like it or not), we are always able to learn through our consciousness those subconscious projections of our psyche. Understand what composes our inner world by seeing it's subconscious projections.
We are not free to astral project as it pleases us, we have to earn such a right first, by working on the disorder within us. So we should be thankful for every opportunity whether it is astral or lucid to experience what we are given from above for our efforts.

Hello Apakhana,
Lucid dreaming in the sense as taught through this site is still being within a dream but knowing that one is dreaming. Lucid dreaming can also be what is referred to on Gnosticweb as 'waking up from a dream' in that one becomes conscious that they are dreaming and then has a conscious OBE outside of dream influence.
Through what is taught here if one is aware of themselves aware and within a dream its recommended to leave the dream and explore the astral and gain some spiritual experiences.
There is a problem in a lot of astral experiences though with dream images obscuring what could be teachings and objective explorations. The only way to combat this is to concentrate on being aware through the day.
But yes lucid dreaming in the way of being conscious in a dream is a waste of a potential astral exploration.
I hope your 'waking up in a dream' soon.

Hmm it isnt really clear to me how to leave the dream then... I thought it was the same as obe. But instead of projecting directly, you wake up in a dream... Some say its the same, and some say its a different thing... I've read stories about flying upwards screaming I want out, to get out of a dream... is there a simmilar way to do this?

Hi laura_nyu
A very simple and effective way to leave the place is to ask your divine parents to take you to a different place, e.g. somewhere where you can learn something.
Good luck with it.

Sorry Laura,
Maybe I added some confusion with what I posted. Your are right in what you said about it being the same as an OBE. I have heard from others when they become conscious in a dream the dream melts away and they see the astral as it is. I usually find it necessary to leave the area to escape the dream. I have found it though when one projects form the body it is much clearer then when one wakes up out of a dream, but I like the philosophy 'any astral is good astral' :-)
That sounds interesting with flying up and saying I want out. I usually find it sufficient to fly and ask to be shown, taken somewhere, taught something and that usually breaks from the majority of dream interference.
I have also heard and tried with different levels of success saying with will and force 'clarity clarity clarity'. You can also use the practice of awareness in the astral as well as the physical I have found. Asking ones Divine Parents for help is always helpful.
I think a lot of it will depend on the individual which is why trial-and-error and finding what works it usually the best way to go.
All the best to your investigations.

Ahoy!
Just wanted to add a few words to what Jonny and Adam have already said.
From my limited experience I have learnt that once you realize that you are in a dream, asking Divine Parents generates the best learning opportunities. Just ask sincerely and you will be amazed!
Some time ago, when it was difficult for me to accept the existence of our Divine Parents, if I woke up in a dream, I would have tried to explore the astral on my own. Eventually I always ended up in losing awareness and falling back into a dream. Once I entrusted my Divine Parents things have improved.
That is why I truly recommend asking Divine Parents for help and teachings.
May the Force be with you!
