I've been trying to achieve a concious OBE for a while, however my first experience happened accidentally.

It was late afternoon, I was watching TV but started falling asleep. I kept trying to stay awake, but fell into a kind of trance.
I remember being aware, but anable to move. I tried to move my left hand and felt the wall to the side of my bed.
I then remembered what I'd read previously about OBEs and tried to push my hand through the solid wall, and to my amazement it went through.
I felt inside the wall with my non-physical hand and I was also aware of my physical hand beside me at the same time, unmoved.

I decided not to push it being my first experience, so opened my eyes.
My body jerked as I came out of it. I then saw confirmation that I hadn't moved my hand at all physically.
There were no marks on the wall, and certainly no holes.

Since this experience, I've had a few partial projections similar to this one, I've managed to move both arms away from my body.
I tried lifting myself completely out, but didn't suceed.

Unfortunately I can't yet induce an OBE on request, it only happens occassionally in this semi asleep state.
I'm now working through "Mastering Astral Projection" by Robert Bruce, hoping for a breakthrough soon.
Attempting Astral Projection for some reason doesn't scare me at all, and neither do ghosts/spirits, I know that is quite unusual.
I won't give up attempting Astral Projection, as from my above partial sucess I know for a fact it's possible.

Hi P.J. CARLOSS,

Interesting experience, thanks for sharing!

For me it's always amazing to go through the walls in astral.

If you are able to get your hands out of your body, while the rest is getting stuck, perhaps, you can investigate if you can relax the rest of your body like your arms.

"Playing" with tension-relaxation can be one way, searching for small areas of tension can help you too, you can also try to clear the stiffness in the muscles with the deep breathing (a few times slowly, effortlessly, inhale through the nose picking up all the tension and slowly, effortlessly, exhale it away through the mouth)

Just in case if you have not found it yet, this site gives the free courses and one of them is specifically devoted for learning about dreams and out-of-body experiences.

Good luck with your projection attempts!

Thanks for the advice on relaxation and I've selected the dreams and OBEs course.

Hi there P.J.Carloss,

Elsewhere, I've read that if you can only move your non-physical arm, to try to gently grab on to something and pull yourself out.

That's what I'm going to try if I encounter freeing up only an arm or two.
