Field Trip to the Symphony...
Legendary tenor opera singer Ben Heppner (if you aren't familiar with his talents, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPAgTnmGF5Y) made an appearance in Toronto tonight along with the famous La Scala Philharmonic (orchestra) from Milan, lead by conductor Riccardo Chailly. With all the work being done on the Centre lately, who could refuse such a night out? :-)
Toronto Teachers and Trainees made a trip to see the concert, which featured selections from Wagner played by the orchestra and sung by Ben Heppner, including the Prelude/Overture from Act III of the opera Lohengrin and the final scene from Act I of the opera Die Walkure. It was very inspiring to hear this music live. Now everyone's got a big boost to carry on with the spiritual work, as well as return to the Centre for some finishing touches all this week.
Unfortunately no photography is allowed inside the Hall, but below are some pictures from before and after the show,

At an Indian restaurant nearby before the concert. It was so good that Stas had to close his eyes to savour the food... :-) (not seen in pic, Ruben)

Here are a few of us sitting in front of Roy Thompson Hall before the show started...

Yes, it was quite the
Yes, it was quite the inspiring experience. I am glad we all went together.
Here are the lyrics to one of the songs I liked the most:
THE ANGEL
In childhood's early days
I often heard tell of angels
who exchange the sublime bliss of
heaven for the earth's sun,
so that when a troubled heart
grieves, hidden from the world,
bleeding silently to death
and expiring in tears;
when its fervent prayer
craves only deliverance,
then the angel floats down
and gently bears it toward heaven.
Yes, an angel has come down even
to me, and on shining wings
transports, far from all suffering,
my spirit heavenwards!

It is so good to see that the friendship that you all have, goes beyond the activities at the Centre.... and with all the hard work you have put in - it is well earnt, that you can make the time to have a social yet spiritual outing.
All the Best with the rest of the renovations....looking forward to seeing the progress...
