Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I haven't had time to practice for almost a month or two due to education taking all my time. But is the key to Astral Projection just to do a method [I've read about a few] but keep the conscious mind asleep, silent? All comments appreciated. |

Hi Zokuaku,
Astral projecting comes down to keeping our mind concentrated as we fall asleep. Normally when we fall asleep we are lost in a bunch of thoughts and then upon falling asleep we wind up in dreams since the thoughts can become dream images.
So what we try to do when astral projecting is keep our mind focused on one thing (our own heart beats, for example). Then once we fall asleep we are aware that we are in our astral body and we can explore the dimension consciously.
Another way to have an astral experience is to realize that we are dreaming when in a dream. Then we can clear ourselves of the dream images and explore.
The Dreams and OBE course here goes into all of this in detail.
I hope your practices go well.

I have had at least one occasion where I intentionally dream about something.
First I make it clear to myself that I want to dream about that, then I just think about it and daydream until I fall asleep.
unrelated: I find that with my sleep pattern, I fall asleep around 1 AM and my alarm goes off at 7 AM and I am almost always in REM sleep when it goes off. Apparently when something wakes me up in REM sleep, I feel extremely tired, as if I hadn't slept at all. This rarely happens when I awake or something wakes me from a deeper sleep cycle.
Interesting...
Maybe the muscle paralysis and mind still being full of the dream play a part in the tiredness: walking to the bathroom to brush my teeth then taking much longer than usual :)
Good night and good luck!
Andy
