The New Toronto Centre Location - Round 6
In an effort to try and catch up with Sydney (currently in stage 9 of their 'Transformation'), here's round 6 of the renovations a little earlier in the week than usual over here in Toronto - ball's in your court Shane :-)

Mike and Ruben begin ripping up the drop sheets from the front of the main room

A big double-thumbs up so far with the drop sheet gone...

Stas and Mike start to bring in the planks for the new floor

View from the front just before the new floors at the back and on the stage are installed

Stas explains to me how it's all going to work with installing the new floors

The professional at work - making a straight line for a smooth transition from the floors at the front of the room to the back...

Since he worked so long and hard at the difficult task of painting the edges of the wall in the main room for the past two weeks, we thought we'd give Adam a break from it and a new task this week - here he is painting the edges of the wall in the men's washroom.

Stas and I roll out the underlay for the new floors, while Ruben gets set with the roller to paint the last unpainted table (for the cafe)

Here's Ruben painting the final stretch of unpainted trim in the main room. Way off to his right (not seen in pic) is Olga putting the finishing touch-ups on the ceiling, and Jenny touching up the trim in the men's washroom.

The Master 'floormaker' at work...

The arrangement is simple - I remove the planks from the boxes, and Stas somehow manages to make them into a floor :-)
By round 7 next week, you'll see our new floor all in place...

Thanks all. Stas runs his
Thanks all. Stas runs his own flooring business, mainly installing hardwood and laminate. However, being in the trade, it appears he's picked up all sorts of useful skills such as carpentry, sink instillation, coffee pickup, and so on.
Justin, the women's washroom is a grey-based purply-pink colour. It will also have the brown trim though, like with the main room and the men's washroom. Here's a picture of it with the first coat on, and some of the trim filled in:
Also, something very interesting happened to us yesterday. After having all sorts of difficulty finding a fridge for the Centre, we managed to chance upon a free one yesterday! In the evening, I decided to ask Stas if I should go and pick up a particular piece of wood from his truck that we would need eventually, but not necessarily at that particular time. Then, just as I was taking a walk to the truck, there was a fridge and stove in fine condition that someone had just thrown away, literally about 5 meters away from Stas's truck. We picked it up, tested it to make sure it works, cleaned it well and added the much-needed baking soda boxes, and so, now we have a fridge :-)...
Also, Stas managed to finish the floor right up to the stage today. Next he is going to put real hardwood down on the stage to make it stick out a little. Here's a pic of how it's turned out so far:
Wait a minute... is that Adam painting the edges of the wall again at the back of the room?
So it is. Here he is in the moment of realization that this very picture will end up on the blog :-) ...
