Have to get used to this new forum style. Anyway, I finally have my technique down for OBE. I recently learned about different types of altered states of consciousness. The author talked about how we zone out when were thinking of something and how that was a type of altered state. I'm very familiar with it (because I think to much) so I decided to see what would happen if I used it to see what would happen if I stayed in it for a long period of time (5mins in the beginning). The results were a quick flash LD (lucid dream). I saw colors and heard voices. I then decided to use it to see if I could have an OBE with it. Well my first test was great, I had an LD almost immediately. I came out of it and wrote down my results. Then I did something I never do, I went back and tried it again right after writing my results. I received an even clearer LD. I knew I had something but I did notice that I was letting go of the zoning after a point so I decided to stay in it for as long as I could.

Yesterday I finally had the time to give it a try. I stayed in what I call "mindless zoning" for a little over 20 mins. During that time I noticed my body start getting heavy, my perception of the darkness shifted ever so often, eventually I was paralized (not scary this time though). My physical eyes shifted from looking up to looking down. The more they looked down the deeper I went under. The darkness changed from black to gray while the eyes were down. The vibrations came and I noticed it then they went away, I stopped noticing them and they came back. Once in a while I lost the zoning and had to bring myself back. Then I struck gold!!! I felt my entire body shift to the left then up. My left physical hand was still in the same position on the bed but my astral hand was moving a little bit. I felt a little more lift from the rest of the body then I decided to come out of if and document my experiences in my journal.

Yes, it's true I should have continued going but I'm talking if from a scientific point of view. Every inch I want to document it, this way for some reason if I can't do it one day I can go back and see where I might be off in my technique. Now that I see how I leave my body, soon I can join other astralnaut in the vast unknown...no wait...known...no no uknown...oh, whatever, out there, you know what I mean. :-)

Hey Spiral,

That seems like a great experience! Keep going with it so you can uncover greater knowledge about the unknown ;)

Thats awesome spiral! I too love to just zone out and think, I love thinking about deep things. I'll have to try that because I notice sometimes that if I zone out things change, I dont have a lucid dream but I notice that things around the area on the floor im looking at get blurry. But i'll have to try it, I have a few questions on the technique. Do you do it with your eyes open or closed? When you do it do you just think about something and let your mind wander or just look at a point on the wall or floor and let things just slip away. I think this could be a very good method for me to use to because everytime I meditate I just can't stay like that sitting there counting or thinking waiting. I always have to move after a while or open my eyes or something.

I do it with my eyes closed but not at the start. First, while lying down I just pick a spot and zone out. My eyes get heavy and I let them do their thing but staying in the feeling of the zone. Then my eyes will start moving by themselves in the socket. I just let this happen and slowly (that's the key I've found...slowly) zone out even more.

My eyes then drop done as if trying to look beheath the bedcovers. Everything goes from black with dark grey images moving around to movie screen grey. I zone out even more then I start feeling the vibrations like a motorcycle is driving by, then I hear voices (not always in this order). From there I get excited calm myself down and start over. Eventually after the vibrations and sounds I feel a lifting but not really light just a lift. Parts of my body go up (my hands either left or right always seems to come fully out first.)

Now while all this is happening I am in two places at once I am in my body able to feel my head only (the rest of the body I can't feel at all) and my other body (astral) that's where I stopped and documented everything. So that's all I have for now. Today I'll be doing it again and I see if I can go beyond my last checkpoint and get out and look around.

A thing to remeber is that your going to have to be still for a long time. This is the one thing I found annoying while reading books on the subject, no one ever said put at least (x) amount of time aside for this. So I'm saying this from my own experience. Put a minimum of hour aside to do this, again a minimum of an hour.

As far as letting the mind wander. It can be done that way because when I do it I usually go into an LD (Lucid Dream). I just have taken the time to do a LD projection. I'll work with one technique first then try another later after I've master this one.

Oh almost forgot a huge part of my technique...breathe.
Yes, I know it sounds simple but it's a must without this you might as well just go to sleep.

Before starting anything breathe in through your nose and out your mouth three times. Then just take deep relaxing breathes through your nose and your nose only. Going through the mouth I found dries it out and is painful to swallow for almost an hour.

So in recapping:

Lie Down
Eyes Open
3 Deep Breath Sequence
Naustral Deep Breath
Zone Out
Eyes Heavy and Close
Zone Out More
Sign Posts of Projection May Occur try to not pay attention to them just let them happen
Keep Going to Your Satisfaction

O.K. I hope this helps,

Cheers,
Spiral
