Hello,

I would like to know if you have a specific defenition for 'Gnosticism'. When I hear or read someone saying "I practice Gnosis" or "I'm Gnostic", I feel that it could be easilly confused with thinking it's some kind of religion or doctrine. As I've experienced and read, gnosis is everywhere, within every experience, and is really behind every religion though very symbolic and sometimes lost. So then it brings me to actually realise gnosticism is not a doctrine, but perhaps a specific and defined way of searching for such knowledge/gnosis.

What do you say? I still can't get a solid meaning for Gnosticism, so that's why I don't really know what would I be meaning with "I am into Gnosticism" or "I'm a Gnostic."

Is being a Gnostic something profound, that comes with experience, and with gaining real gnosis, knowledge of a very high spiritual kind? or could it just mean that the person is looking or even starting to search for such gnosis? or something else?

Hi Mauricio,

For me, Gnosticism means the search for inner knowledge, "Gnosis", gained through the personal spiritual experiences.

I understand it to be the specific school of internal work as well.

In my view, to really understand Gnosis, you need to practice it because it is all about personal experiences. So, without practicing it, it can be easily mistaken for the religious sect, where people beleive instead of investigating.

It is easy to make this judgment and it makes sense, as well as, before its real shape was discovered, the view that Earth is flat, was making a lot of sense for many people.

All the strength and strength for all!

Hello Mauricio,

It dose not matter how I call my self as long as I' am aware that this is how I call my self.

But if calling my self a Gnostic or any other identification I begin to get attached to that image I created about my self, then I' am traped in that image and the search for inner knowledge stops right there.

Does it matter how we are called as long as we remain self-aware human beings?

Great. I was a bit confused about the word. But "seeker", "One that wants truth", one that is searching for truth really is the meaning I was looking for. Thanks guys..
