Greetings Fellow Travelers,

I joined this forum moments ago. I started to leave my body at about the age of eight. By the time I was a teenager I felt it was a nuisance. So my mother took me to someone who taught me how to stop it. In my twenties it started again I would be so tired after working night shift out I would come out quicky no choice. My husband helped me because although the body was paralyzed I managed to whistle slightly. Then he would awaken me.

I had a fear of something happening to my body while gone. Since finding your forum I plan to get back in action and see if I can lose the fear and even venture out like you brave souls. I am awaiting the next course.

Any suggestions on losing the fear and how to make astral projecting something useful?

Thanks,
Becky

Hi Becky,

Welcome to the forum!

Me too, I had a lot of fear about astral projection. I had no idea what to expect there, if it is dangerous, or not, etc. And my imagination was making it very scary, thinking about all the worst possible outcomes, enforcing the beleifs that they can happen.

The thing is, every time when we fall asleep, we enter the astral plane, and every time when we wake up, we come back from the astral plane.

The only difference with astral projection is that we are aware of our experience, (our body gets the same amount of rest whether we are consciously in astral or not) so fear is totally irrational here.
Is it not more scary to meet unknown with the eyes closed? Well, that's what we do, or even more than that, when we fall asleep without conscious projection, because we let go out of our control... whatever will happen.

The course in Dreams and Out-of Body-Experiences was very helpful for me to understand finally what is astral projection and the astral plane, how it happens, how can I do it, etc. and get personal experiences, which is much more important, I think.
Then, Self-Discovery and, especially, Gnostic Wisdom courses were very helpful for me to learn how to deal with fear and other psychological defects, such as being angry, lazy, envious, etc.
Yes, I had experiences to go to the new location at will.

For now, if you will feel a lot of fear (which is very normal) I can suggest you to feel detached from it, from all those sensations and even thoughts -fear is not you! When we start to observe fear instead of being posessed by it, it loses a lot of power!
Also you can check your breathing, whether it is normal, take a few deep breathes. (inhale throw the nose and exale through the mouth in a very natural and relaxed way)
It is very helpful to get relaxed.
You can actually feel the area where you feel this fear and just relax it by your will.
Those things are unlikely to work effectively right away, it can take some time to learn those skills.

If you will project, all the best in your experiences! To come back, you can just wish it, but for most of the people it is very hard to stay there for a long time, usually a person just loses awareness and control, slipping into the regular dreaming.
There is a lot of useful we can take from the astral plane, investigating our psychology, or even learning from Divine Beings, besides having a lot of fun!

I think that soon you will like astral projection a lot. This is a great option available for people, to take so much out of this time from our lives, but used only by a few.

Good luck!

Have you ever been really afraid of something, a cliche example would be a diving board (which may or may not relate to you), and then decided to just face up to it and do it, only to then suddenly realise how great it is, and you want to do it again?

I believe in a way, astral projection may be something similar to this situation.

Maybe the only thing to fear with this is ourselves.

Fear is obviously natural when facing anything unknown, though by facing fear head on, it often seems to disappear as time goes on and is also often followed by a feeling of achievement, that...

"yeah, I actually managed to be courageous and do what I was afraid of, and now I am being rewarded for it".

I don't think you need to be "unafraid" to have "courage". By simply entering a frightful situation, even with fear, you are still courageous because you aren't letting anything stop you, not even your own fear.

Driving a car is very likely far more dangerous then having an out of body experience, yet we still do it...

"Courage is found in unlikely places" Tolkien

Best of luck Becky

Becky,

Are you looking for suggestions that will help you overcome fear and go to worthwhile locations while consciously experiencing the astral dimension? I'm just a beginner, but I have a few helpful ideas that have helped me in the past. One time after "waking up in the astral dimension from a dream" I noticed that the imagery did not change. I was in a room so I imagined a latter leading up to the attic, and then walked up to the ceiling and visually created an opening. By leaving the room and entering the attic, I imagined that my dream world was left behind to a conscious experience in the astral dimension.

So visually creating a portal or doorway from a dream to a more conscious astral experience is one method. Other suggestions that people have posted from other's questions include: praying to a divine mother/father (or guardian angle) to take you to the new location, simply visualizing the new location, spinning around (like Wonder Woman) after visualizing the new location (and then being there after you stop spinning), flying off into the sky and then entering a portal (one of the many stars in the sky) to take you to a new location, and verbally telling yourself that you will go to the new location (and then being there). Other communities use mantras or chant the names of the locations where they want to travel.

Also, if one has negative energies (or other factors such as a low level of consciousness or tailgating/hitchhiking negative entities) it makes sense that one will not be able enter a more spiritual astral dimension from a lower astral field. So the number one factor enabling one to go to spiritual locations in the astral dimension and beyond is a high degree of spirituality and consciousness.

As far as combating fear, people say that one is responsible for what happens to oneself in the astral dimension. This means that if one is harmed or frightened by some evil entity, it is because one has allowed the evil spirit to do so. So when I encounter any evil doer in the astral dimension, I remember that by becoming fearful I am only strengthening my adversary's position. So it is best to remain calm especially when in a frightening situation. The Astral Travel and Dreams course has some methods that may be useful when encountering negative entities.

People say that the astral dimension is one of emotions, so if the focal point of one’s emotions is scattered it may be extremely difficult to remain lucid or at one location in the astral dimension. So sometimes I try to empty my mind of emotions and rely on thought. But at this point you may be able to leave the astral dimension and enter the mental dimension. But I’ve run across a few mental cases in this dimension so even more spiritual destinations can be achieved. If one reaches a calm ocean that may be the point where one leaves the mental dimension to the spiritual dimensions but I am not sure.

Hey Becky,

For me I found that fear of the astral was much easier to deal with after I'd had a few experiences and knew there was nothing to be afraid of, and that the possibilities from going there were amazing.

If you feel comfortable with it, then it's probably worthwhile as others have mentioned to ask for protection (or for whatever you think you need) from your Divine parents, or higher beings, or god, or your guardian angel (these all relate to similar Beings).

And maybe you could have a goal or something to do in the astral that you're really interested in, so hopefully you can forget about the fear and go and explore!

All the best with it! I'd highly recommend the OBE and Dreams course too, it's an amazing guide in this area!

Hi Alison,

Your best bet would be to sign up for the Dreams and Out-of-Body Experiences course which is starting in about 5 days. You can get more info and sign up from this page if you're interested: http://www.gnosticweb.com/content/courses-timetable

I hadn't been able to astral project until I did that course, even though I'd looked at lots of info and tried lots of techniques. I think the reason why I had success with the course is because it shows you what is most important to project, and helps you build the groundwork for experiences. It also shows you with practices and information how to train your skills until you're able to project, rather than just giving practices or information at random. Everyone I know who has stuck with the practices on the courses has been able to have at least one astral experience!

I don't know much about using cds to project, but if you can build your skills well enough then you'll be able to project anywhere you want at any time without help of external things.

Hope you're able to project very soon!
