Week 8 - Transformation
This week we had the lift to do all the high painting at the front.

DURING THE WEEK

The bar was lacquered / varnished during the week along with some table tops
seen below.
The floor was also covered in Carb Soda to neutralise the acid stain.
SATURDAY

Dave Saturday morning painting the door frame.

Last week we arranged to hire a lift, which never turned up because the company
double
booked, so this week they gave us the lift for free.
Colm starting to coat the iron grill
after doing a test of dark green below.

Mark climbing on board to steer the ship and start preparing the iron surfaces.

Starting the upper railing and beams to test the colours.

The colour gets the thumbs down :-( The workers put on hold until
colour is sorted.

Not sure?

White iron to be painted next week, this week we are focussing on all the high
stuff
whilst we have the lift.

Colour has been decided, so the guys see how much we have to mix. Nice shadow
in the foreground :-)

Tony begins the arduous task of wiping the concrete floor down in the garage.
During the week a layer of
Bicarbonate Soda was applied to neutralise the acid used previously for
staining.

Mark starting the mixing of colours to get the darker green we need at the
front.

John just double checking the colour scheme with a professional painter.

Dave touching up the driveway gates and seeking inspiration.... which soons
arrives...

The light shines in the darkness....

Tony in the background finishing off the clean down, John calculating the paints
to mix...

A ride up to the top to check out the gutter and beams to see which paints
to use and how much we have..

Moon in the background and Sebastian more than happy to be helping out..

Back down on the ground and Picasso starts mixing (whatever we have to make
it dark!)

Sebastian would love to play with the colours but gets side tracked with the
opportunity of a photo shoot...

The kids taking advantage of a stall in work progress... waiting for the paint
to arrive.

Tony starts the sealant to seal in the colours and give the floor a nice varnish..

Pati and Laraine preparing the food.. this weekend it's Pati's delicious meat
pies, it's great when the girls
compete to produce the best food as the standards just keep going up (whilst
we try not to let our waistlines go out).

Shane keeping Sebastian's voracious mind occupied....teaching him
the fine Art of 'Silent Zen Pin Ball Meditation'.

Dusk - all hands on deck to get as much of the new colour
painted before night fall..

Tony getting there..

Colm, John and Mark coating the iron grill on the balcony.

Working in the dark.

Tony finishing the edges.
SUNDAY

John and Larraine start repainting the tables with a new top coat.

Second seal put on the concrete.

Testing shades
of white on the cross beams.

Finishing off the tables before hitting the front facade.

All aboard for the front attack...

Mark stearing a bit closer.

All the way to the top to do the very top beam and the top of the collumn/s.

Down a bit to start the iron railing whilst John does the delicate work around
the collumn - it doesn't look very
comfortable does it?
These guys deserve a nice meat pie :-)

John stretching to get the collumns painted and staying concentrated to avoid
the electric cables and yes...
that is his foot sticking out... or is it Colm's?

Collumn nearly done...

The top beam, iron rail and collumn complete - just finishing off the bits
missed.

Testing the green on the main wooden beams - it gets the go!

Top left collumn complete, very top gutter also gets it... nearly there...

Top part of building finished for the day and allowed to dry. Normally the
roof isn't noticed, just that these
shots are being taken from across the street with zoom to
give you a straight on impression.

Finished for the day!!

It was hard work painting the iron work but well worth it in the end. The neighbours were impressed too.
Stay tuned next week for our flying trapeze act.
