What do Gnostics tend to believe about the Bible? As a Deist, I don't believe it is inspired by God. I didn't think Gnostics did either, but after reading a bit on Gnostic sites I'm not so sure what they believe about it.Thanks,Steven |

Samael Aun Weor used some examples and quotes from Bible in his books, explaining their profound meaning.
You can read his books from the left panel (E-BOOKS DOWNLOADS)
Also Bible makes much more sense after passing over Gnostic Wisdom course, I find.

The Bible has lots of valuable information in it, but it is very poorly understood by most nowadays.
Many passages are symbolic and the symbolism and true meaning can only be understood with our intuition, which improves as we develop spiritually.
Take care,

Gnosis comes from the word "knowledge", here the word Gnosis is used to refer to knowledge, not the kind of you read about, but direct experience both in discovering how your own psyche works and also how the higher dimensions work and being able to explore them, basically here are provided tools you can use to search deep within and without and discover what is this thing we call "life"? what is it all about? who am i? these questions cannot be answered outside of yourself, we are all individuals here, so in Modern Gnosis as taught here one is encouraged to investigate into beliefs and disbeliefs, see why we have them, which ones do we have? we will all have beliefs and disbeliefs, but if you want to know what Modern Gnosis says about them it is to throw them away and find out for yourself.
best to you,
Jim

There are more divisions in the "Christian" religion than any other religion in the world. Each of these divisions have their own interpretation of various scriptures, hence the division.
The translators of the original scrolls have also made alterations of several scriptures to fit their own biased beliefs making it difficult to arrive at the "truth".
My own studies of the Bible were made with an open mind and much research involving study of the root meanings of ancient words, ancient history and many other things. This has shown up the discrepencies and contradictions that various traditional teachings adhere to.
My studies have revealed to me that the Bible is totally accurate in all its detail, including all its prophesies and happenings.
It does contain some symbolism that can be understood by diligent study but even that sybolism is accurate in all its forms. Study of ancient history helps in understanding these.
Once you deviate from the true *original* meaning of a scripture, as the traditional "Christian" teachings have, you will find complications and contradictions will hinder your study of the Bible.

Could you explain more about what you mean by saying that the Bible is "totally accurate" in all its detail regarding prophesies and happenings?
And I think if it's not possible for me to understand the Bible in translation, there's no point in me reading it. Because i'm not going to learn ancient Hebrew and Greek. :-\

I mean just what I said. To understand what I mean, you need to find out the dates which historians, archealogists and theologists agree are accurate. There are three of these dates. One can work out the prophesies from working backward or forward from these dates and using evidence from the Bible what certain terms mean.
There are hundreds of prophesies and all have been accurately fulfilled up to now. There are still some yet to be fulfilled and some in the process of being fulfilled today if you know what to look for.
Knowing that all previous prophesies have been fulfilled gives me confidence that those yet to be fulfilled will come to be.
There are also many archealogical findings (that are not theological) that support the happenings recorded in the Bible.
You can get root meanings of words from various sources without having to learn Greek or Hebrew. I was very fortunate to have Greek speaking friends as well as a Hebrew scholar to aid me.
Bear in mind that the errors in teachings are mainly in the Greek scriptures that "Christians" seem to rely on more than the Hebrew scriptures. However, a real understanding requires the use of both, the so-called Old Testament and the New Testament. They go hand in hand.

There is another way of going about understanding the Bible and any other ancient spiritual text for that matter.
