I have a very mixed heritage and a lot of my ancestors on both sides of my family had spiritual significance (my great-great grandmother a hatian high voodoo priestess, native american spiritual leaders, and so on) and both my grandparents on my mother's side were born with a "veil" over their face ( a rare membrane that has grown over an infants face when born) and in southern superstition, this means that the child will have a gift (pschokinetic, premonitions, etc...) and in both my grandmother and grandfather's case they both were able to see "ghosts" and "spirits" and would often leave me lying awake at night after one of their many and actively told stories when I was young.But anyway, my mother recalled all the fear and stuff my grandparents went through as well as things she was there for first hand. So, before I was born she prayed and prayed that I wouldnt have any "abilities". Once I did have an experience when I was about 5yr old with a nice neighbor who had died and again she prayed and prayed...So could this be what is holding me back from having more conscious experiences, her fears for me and prayers? Is this possible? |

Many of these 'gifts' or 'abilities' are simply different ways to see reality. Unfortunately, due to those fears that you have described as well as other subconscious states such as anger, pride, envy, etc., most of humanity regards these 'faculties' as something special when actually, they are just part of what we truly are.
Life exists so that we can 'wake up' and learn to see reality as clearly as possible. The Divine always helps us with our efforts to do this, if we choose to. With that said, even though your mother may be well intentioned in her prayers, it is highly unlikely that the Divine will answer her requests because her requests go against our real purpose in life.
Your mother's fears could be quite understandable though because of the fact that 'awakening' is an elevator that goes both up and down. Some people of 'spiritual significance' either intentionally or unintentionally go down, and even though many 'powers' can be gained, it can also bring some fairly frightening results.
So perhaps your mother is just praying that you don't go 'down'. ;)
Anyway, the courses here have helped me gain a lot of experience and benefits and I think they will help you do the same. Just be prepared to practice...truly spiritual things don't come for free.

the great thing is though, these courses give you weapons against Black Magic (conjurations and the circle of protection), and we all have the potential to walk the real spiritual path, what it takes is some effort in the right ways. i suggest taking up the Astral Travel course and really putting effort into the practices, you might be surprised by what you're capable of! :)
don't worry about your mother, there's only so much you can do. the Divine can overcome any influence so counter her prayers with your own. also be careful not to formulate ideas about it, like if something bad happens don't immediately blame it on your mother.
all in all, yes i think it can affect you a little, but overall not that seriously. real abilities are earned by walking the real spiritual path.

Yes. She put a bind on your ability to deal with the astral plane. You might want to do an uncrossing. Google uncrossing or jinx breaking. Cat Yronwode has a huge article about the process of uncrossing yourself on her site.

Well in my humble experience I am mixed. I do think they could have put a shield around you and I also think it is that fear and uncertainty. Have you ever tried communicating with someone on the other side or doing anything like they did? If you have tried with no success than perhaps you did get a shield put around you that keeps things out. I however do have a shield around me for protection but I can still do things and feel spirits and whatnot. If you're very into opening that channel I would think about it first before you do because once you open it I believe personally it's hard to close it back. Even if you do it's always going to be somewhat open. If you want to put a shield around yourself I use the white light shield. I imagine with my inner eye a big white light around me and the brighter the light the stronger the shield and you can choose who to let in (like I do my guides and relatives). Good luck!

Emily, you made some very very good points. Maybe the original poster's parents received a message from a spirit and wanted to keep their child away from such things. I have noticed myself that when you have that door open you find out things that you maybe didn't want to know but you were told because you were the one listening. And when you say that the portals are hard to close, that is very true. It's much better to have the portals closed and not be able to open them, than to have them open and not able to close them. So learning how to open the portals safely instead of ripping them open is a wise move. I'm glad you posted and i look forward to reading more of your insights.

When someone is doing a prayer against you, it is like black magic. The result I think is how strong the persons are, like their believe systems and level of consciousness.
One time a person put a voodoo spell on me, which was told to me in a dream. That time I did the ritual of the century plant as taught in the courses.
Which is what I can recommend you.
Also don't try to fear your mother's prayers, just ignore if possible.
