Hi Geno,
Nightmares can sometimes be caused by an upset stomach - eating too soon before bed can provoke this. So your friend may wish to look into this.
Personally, some foods tend to lead to creepy dreams, bordering on nightmares. If I have lots of onions or garlic with supper, for example, my dreams tend to be of a darker nature. I'm not quite sure why this is - it might just be a personal thing or perhaps my stomach gets upset.
Aside from food, nightmares tend to arise because of the unpleasant states within our own psyche. Our anger, fear, jealousy and other negativity can lead to nightmares. I rarely have full-fledged nightmares any more, but when I do, it is usually because I've lost a lot of energy by identifying with the negativity I have within.
What is within our psyche isn't always obvious, but through various techniques, such as those covered in the courses here, we can start to see what is within and make changes for the better. I'd really recommend the courses to your friend.
You might want to reassure him that although nightmares can be terribly frightening, his physical body will remain safe and so there's no need to be afraid to sleep. The lack of sleep might make things worse.
As for entering people's dreams, presumably it is possible. Spiritual Beings - beings who have awakened consciousness in the higher dimensions are able to enter our dreams. They can do this because of their incredibly high level of awakened consciousness. Most of us here have very little awakened consciousness so it sounds difficult. I can't speak from experience on this, though.
I hope this helps you (and your friend).
Best wishes!

As I understand it, when you 'fall asleep' at night, your astral body splits from your physical, and so if you are aware at all you are experiencing the astral plane. So, if your friend too was asleep they would be in the astral plane as well. So you could 'enter their dream', but chances are that, because they are probably not conscious at all, they won't remember, or possibly even notice you. If you were both conscious at all, then it should be possible to meet each other. People from past courses have met each other in the astral and confirmed their findings on the forums.
hope this helps,

Hi Geno,
I think Mike's already said the important things, and I'd second a recommendation for your friend to do the courses. I used to have nightmares too and am not really bothered by them anymore after getting the information and doing the practices from the courses.
In the meantime though, there's something your friend might be able to do to get out of nightmares if he's having them. When I used to have them, if I realised I was having a nightmare and told myself to wake up and kind of jerked my body then I would wake up from it.
In the long run though, the information on the courses will help him get rid of them, and also teach him techniques to protect himself from negative influence while he's asleep.
